00:00A new combination of cement and carbon black could be the newest giant supercapacitor aiding
00:06conductivity. Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University
00:12write, you have these at least two millennia old materials, but when you combine them in a
00:18specific manner, you come up with a conductive nanocomposite. And that's when things get really
00:23interesting. Science Alert reports this electrified cement could potentially turn
00:29building foundations and roads into almost limitless batteries. The researchers suggest a
00:35residence with a foundation made of a supercapacitor cement could store enough energy to power that
00:41house for a day. What's more, the energy could be produced through renewable sources, including
00:47solar and wind. And considering the materials used are cheap and abundant, in theory, the
00:53currently small supercapacitor should be able to scale up with ease.
