00:00for that in game two though, routing the Windies by eight wickets as Glenn McGrath collected four.
00:05Brian Lara won the toss again but this time decided to bat, probably not the right decision
00:10after Devin Smith fell tenth ball of the match to Brett Lee, caught and bowled. It didn't get much
00:15better as Lara failed again and the Windies crashed a five for 75. Powell, Banks and Boar
00:21added some steel in the middle order before McGrath returned a polish off the tail. The
00:26Windies all out for 163 in 49 overs. The Pigeon finished with four for 31 from his 10. Lee
00:32was much tighter taking two for 22 from seven. Andy Bickle got Lara again in his two for 27
00:38while Jason Gillespie and Brad Hogg took a wicket each. Here's a look at some of the highlights
00:44from the Windies innings.
00:51Cotton balled. Bad shot by Smith. Brett Lee gets the wicket. Breakthrough for Australia
00:56early on. The West Indies have lost the wicket in the second over. Well that is not what they
01:01wanted. It's hit high on the bat. It's come back in towards him. He's trying to pull it.
01:05It's cramped in Peru and it would have hit right on the splice. I reckon there we are and it
01:10just
01:10chips it back to Lee. He's dropped a couple of this series. He wasn't going to drop that
01:14one. So disaster there for Smith. First one down and just four runs on the ball.
01:2211 for one. Well it will be unless we run out of diesel. That's going to be runs and that's
01:29probably the only runs you've missed since we've been off and that's four. Good shot just
01:35land on that one. McGrath just over-pitching.
01:41Got a go. Didn't hit his glove. They've got big appeal and he's out. So David Sheppard
01:45raised the finger. The short ball which has come back into One Day International is one
01:49of the decent rules that the ICC has approved. And McGrath with just a little bit of extra
01:54oof. He hasn't been bowling quickly over the last two or three weeks. But just the extra bounce
01:59was above his head. As he doesn't pull all that often. Just brushing the glove it seems. Very
02:06intelligent bowling from Glen McGrath. The prize delivery. Court Samuels just peeping forward.
02:12And Marlon Samuels doesn't last very long at number three. He's gone for six. 21 for two.
02:20Again a sustained a deliver shot. No footwork at all from Gale so he's going to make a decision
02:26here that if it's anywhere in his zone he's going to go for it. A slashing shot through
02:31the covers. In the air again. A couple of bounces over the fence as well. So anything near enough
02:41is going to be good enough for Gale this morning. He's had enough of being tied down by Lee and
02:46McGrath. But he's off the lay at the moment. Did it carry? It did. That's the end of Lara.
03:03Andy Bickle the man again. How many times on this tour have we seen Andy Bickle dismiss Brian
03:09Lara. Certainly a big wicket for the Australians. Andy Bickle. He's got Brian Lara a number of
03:16times. This time he had him driving on the up. Good catch by Gilchrist. Kept quite low. Big
03:24wicket for the Australians. Andy Bickle the man again. West Indies. Three for 43. Brian Lara
03:31gone for five. Edged and gone. That's where it gets down now for the West Indies. The last
03:41ball in the over. We saw that happening a few times yesterday. Again today. The last ball
03:46in the over and the wicket goes down. Well Andy Bickle's done it again. Chris Gale looking
03:54to drive on the up. All he managed to do was nick it straight to Adam Gilchrist. Andy Bickle
04:00you can't keep him out of the game at the moment. Never a wickets needed. He's the man who's doing
04:05the job for Australia. Chris Gale. Gone for twenty-eight caught Gilchrist Bickle on the West Indies
04:13in big trouble at 50 for four. That's hammered and dropped. That was traveling. Well as soon as you
04:24say these things Bisha as commentators you should know that something's gonna happen that's going to
04:30contradict you. Gone this time. Edge taken by Hayden. Foxed him. Drew him into the drive. Outside
04:42Edge. Sarwan goes. The West Indies are five down for 75. Australia continue to squeeze the life out of
04:50the West Indies innings. Clever bowling by Jason Gillespie. I think you'll see that it would have
04:55been a slower delivery. Yep. Just rolling the fingers down the inside of it. Sarwan knocked
05:03to the pitch of it. And good catching Matthew Hayden. One flew past him earlier in the over.
05:08But he gets on to this one. Gillespie is now a happier man in the West Indies in big trouble.
05:15Grander Sarwan gone for fourteen. Seventy-five for five. That is a magnificent on drive. That is a superb shot
05:27from
05:27Ricardo Paul. He just pushed it and it raced across the outfield for four. Got that away. There's a man
05:38out there.
05:39And he can't get it. Another boundary for Paul. When he does hit it, stays hit.
05:48And Paul has clobbered that. It's gone first bounce just inside the boundary. Another boundary to Ricardo Paul.
05:54Paul. Moves him on to 30 now. In the air. Going towards Long On. Hasn't got the carry. No it
06:07hasn't. Out.
06:09So Glenn McGrath takes the simplest of catches at Long On. Paul trying to whack it somewhere. Probably
06:14towards more mid-wicket. But in the end only got a top half edge. And it went straight to McGrath.
06:18Took a very simple catch at Long On. So the West Indies are in more trouble.
06:22Well they are. That's not the wicket they wanted at the moment. Here we'll watch it.
06:27Just come on to him a little quicker. He's mishit this. And it still nearly went for six.
06:32Glenn McGrath down there. Judge. Well, a pretty simple catch in the end. Into the wind.
06:37So Powell. Another one down. Not what they wanted. 103 for six.
06:47That's going to get away. That could be four. Gillespie's not going to haul that in.
06:52Good shot.
06:57That's gone a long way. Got hold of that. Carlton Bohr. All the way.
07:05Finally the shackles are broken. Carlton Bohr saw the gap over mid-wicket.
07:11Hit it. Hit it sweetly. Hit it sweetly enough to go all the way.
07:17Well, if you want to hit it, hit it straight.
07:20But perhaps not as straight as that. Young Carton Bohr was in a bit of danger at one point.
07:31Straight up. That will be old. Adam Gilchrist won't drop that.
07:47Well, the Australian Bowls have been bowling full and straight.
07:50But this time Brett Lee thought he'd test out the short line.
07:54Amari Banks went for the shot.
07:57Unfortunately, top-edged it straight to Adam Gilchrist, who took his fourth catch in the innings.
08:02And Weston is in more trouble.
08:057 for 1.57. Amari Banks caught Gilchrist boldly for 29.
08:12Bold, full and straight. Same dismissal as yesterday. Perhaps a different shot, but the same dismissals.
08:20Mid-stump again.
08:26It's good bowling from Glenn McGrath. Can't beat experience and knowledge.
08:34Magnificent delivery right on the middle stump.
08:36Perfect Yorker. Carlton Bohr once again trying to work the ball against the angle towards the offside.
08:44Carlton Bohr, 29 from 54 deliveries.
08:47The West Indies, 8 for 1.60 on the 49th over.
08:57Once again, same thing.
09:00All over.
09:02Nine wickets down.
09:10Well, it's a difficult situation for the West Indies tailwinders.
09:14What you must do is get bad on ball.
09:16That was probably a genuine half follow.
09:18I'm not sure what Vazwood Drakes was doing.
09:21Played outside it.
09:23And same result as Carlton Bohr.
09:26He had his stumps knocked over.
09:27And the West Indies, 1.63 for 9.
09:30Vazwood Drakes goes for 1.
09:37Well, that's out as well.
09:39All over.
09:40Full and straight.
09:41Missed.
09:42All over.
09:43It's either the stumps or the pad that's going to be hit when you bowl as full and as straight
09:47as that.
09:56I'm not sure about your description of Corey Collymore as a decent batsman, Michael, after that.
10:02But anyway, it was a full toss.
10:07And hit Corey Collymore right in front of Leg Stump.
10:11Pretty sure Leg Stump would have been knocked out of the ground.
10:14Glenn McGrath finish with four wickets.
10:18West Indies.
10:20Bowl out the 49th over for 1.63.
10:23And Corey Collymore goes first ball.
10:28Well, not exactly what Brian Lara had planned after talking up the Windy's chances in the press after that defeat
10:34in Game 1.
10:35They lost their last four wickets for just six runs and failed to bat out their 50 overs, surrendering for
10:41only 1.63.
10:42Not surprisingly, the target was easy meat for the Australians, hungry to chalk up win number 19.
10:48Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden put 50 on the board before Gilchrist fell for 27.
10:53Hayden went on to score a patient 50 from almost two hours at the crease before Ponting and Andrew Simons
10:59steered the Aussies to victory in the 36th over.
11:03Ponting making it back-to-back 50s, while Simons was not out on 17.
11:07The Windy's bowlers toiled hard, trying to defend that mediocre total.
11:12Corey Collymore and Amari Banks each claimed a wicket, while Merv Dillon bowled some tidy lines in his none for
11:1845 from 10.
11:19Here's a look at how the Aussies made it 2-0 in the series.
11:26That's lofted. That's gone all the way into the mound.
11:33Well, that's what can happen if you bolt to these two and you're not quite quick enough.
11:39Well, he played that one a lot better than in the first innings.
11:44Well, he had a bit more room to move with that one.
11:46The one in the first innings was more at his chest.
11:48This one, I'm certain, was higher, probably a touch wider.
11:52There was a man that, well, forward square, just there, but it was way over his head.
11:59Hit it pretty well, Gilchrist.
12:02Just, yeah, much higher ball and just a bit wider.
12:12That's four.
12:15No need chasing those.
12:22In the air and pass mid-on for four.
12:25So, over the head of the bowler and just wider mid-on.
12:28And it's a little just short-arm jab from the smiling assassin.
12:33It's 49 without loss.
12:37Lovely shot.
12:38Mid-wicket, the man standing in the pond, and he caught it.
12:41Samuels.
12:44He's on the beach.
12:46And he took a catch.
12:48Gilchrist just trying to flick it away from square leg.
12:52And Samuels needs a catch at deep mid-wicket, or deep square leg on the fence.
13:00Just had a feeling that Adam Gilchrist was about to cut loose.
13:02He was looking a bit loose in his strike play.
13:05Hit that one pretty well.
13:05Picked it up nicely.
13:07But unfortunately, he's picked out Marlon Samuels out on the tennis court out there.
13:11And he's plucked it in pretty well.
13:13And Corey Collymore got Adam Gilchrist for 27.
13:17Australia lose their first wicket at 50.
13:25In the air, but it's gone a long way.
13:27All timing from Ricky Ponting, and it's gone all the way for six.
13:36Who says it matters what's behind the bowler's arm?
13:41So many people get fussed about side screens and people moving behind the bowler's arm.
13:45Well, you don't get too many more runs from one shot than that.
13:50That's a big six.
13:54Well, here we go.
13:56Hiddens goes over the top and gets four.
13:58Didn't quite get it where he wanted.
14:00He was more looking for a mid-off, but he went after it.
14:03Makes it over the extra cover area.
14:05So they're going after Drake's here.
14:11Now, things happening today.
14:13As Tony Coz, you said, that's another four.
14:15They're going to go two down.
14:17Could have been one all.
14:21Yeah, and a victory yesterday to follow the Antigua Test victory
14:24certainly would have been a further boost for them.
14:27But they played bad cricket yesterday when they came back out.
14:30A number of indifferent shots got wickets.
14:40Off the back foot, we'll go to the boundary for four.
14:44Ricky Ponting certainly in top touch as he was in the Test Series.
14:48Got a very good half-century yesterday.
14:53There, just a shortness in length there.
14:55Ponting, picking the gap.
14:56He's in Tuka to form the ball.
14:58That sort of stuff too.
15:00Pick the gap beautifully, didn't he?
15:01Didn't try to ever hit it, just timed the ball.
15:06Over the top.
15:07No one out there.
15:08And we'll go for another boundary.
15:10Not entirely timed by Hayden.
15:13But goes away for four.
15:15So he moves on to 44.
15:21There's the reverse sweep.
15:22Downhill it goes.
15:23Long chase here for the fielder.
15:26Pulls it back and raises Hayden's 50 with those three runs on the reverse sweep.
15:32So a half-century for Matthew Hayden.
15:35We've got another one in Wanda International for the big left-hander from Queensland.
15:42In the air.
15:43And a fielder is down there, but it's taken by Colomore.
15:50So Matthew Hayden, forgetting a half-century, working hard for it, tries to put banks over
15:56the boundary and succeeds only in depositing the catch into the hands of Corey Colomore.
16:02Well, put the jinx on another one today.
16:04Matthew Hayden, who I said, looked like he won the bat through the inning.
16:07Just tried to chip this for six over the fence.
16:10Didn't get to the pitch of the ball.
16:12That's it, low on the bat.
16:13He's still hit it a long way, but the man right down there, Colomore, right in front
16:18of the fence, just stood his ground and swallowed it.
16:21So Matthew Hayden goes.
16:22The second wicket down for the Aussies.
16:25121 runs.
16:31Another one forced through the offside.
16:33Just too short in length for the last couple of deliveries from Bankston.
16:37It's gone all the way this time.
16:38Corey Colomore not quick enough.
16:44Gone over the top.
16:46That will run away for four as well.
16:47So a boundary to end the over.
16:52140 for two.
16:55Ricky Ponting on 49.
16:58Almost back to Omari Banks.
17:00But it brings up his 50 anyway.
17:0433rd half century in one-day internationals for Ricky Ponting.
17:10Another captain's innings.
17:12Taking him just 60 deliveries.
17:21There's a lot of peel from Omari Banks.
17:23Not sure if he hit it.
17:24He's appealing for the LBW.
17:26And runs have been given by Eddie Nichols.
17:30Omari Banks was appealing.
17:35He's changed his mind and given leg buys.
17:37From what I could see, he hit his pad first, then onto his bat.
17:40Let's have a look at that.
17:41Spun back.
17:42He did indeed flip his pad first, then onto his bat and glove.
17:47Corey Colomore.
17:49That's it.
17:51Fantastic strike by Andrew Simons towards the long-hand boundary for four.
17:56takes Australia to 168 and a victory.
18:02Consecutive victories on this weekend here at Sabina Park in Jamaica.
18:07Brian Lara will be a little disconsolate, but Ricky Ponting, by contrast, will be pleased to have pulled off two
18:15victories in the beginning of this one, the international series.
18:21Well, a more clinical effort by the Australians, with Matthew Hayden and the skipper reaching 50 in the run chase.
18:27Adam Gilchrist got the ball rolling at the top of the order with 27 from 28 balls.
18:32Corey Colomore and Omari Banks were the only wicket-takers for the Windies as the visitors reached the target of
18:37164 in a canter.
18:39Australia 2-0 up in the seven-match series, the only concern in the tourist camp, a calf strain to
18:45Darren Lehman and a stomach complaint for Ian Harvey.
18:48But they each had three days rest before the next game in St. Lucie.
