00:00Speaking of NBA players, Michael Jordan, but not that Michael Jordan.
00:04Michael B. Jordan, the one I want to talk about.
00:09Welcome back to YAP Session, where we're talking about all the hotdicks topics.
00:14And right now, we're going to start with who's hotter than Hilary Duff.
00:17Love her. I kept going Lizzie McGuire, Hilary Duff. Who is she?
00:21Because in my mind, she'll always be Lizzie McGuire.
00:22Oh, totally. I mean, I think it's very admirable.
00:25She sold out two nights at MSG, Madison Square Garden.
00:27And, you know, she's still kicking it years later.
00:30I mean, she's still...
00:31That's so huge.
00:31That really is.
00:32I mean, she's a big stadium.
00:33I know. I mean, think about all the Disney stars where, like, they had their prime while they were in
00:37the Disney show.
00:37They tried to leave that whole Disney-verse, and it didn't really work out.
00:41But, I mean, all these decades later, she's still selling out MSG.
00:44And everyone is talking about their performance.
00:48So, starting with Good Charlotte Came Out, which was a huge deal.
00:52Because, I mean, she used to date Joel Madden when she was a teenager.
00:55Yeah, like, 2004 to 2006, they had a little history.
00:58I love that they're not able...
00:59Unlike me, they're able to be friends after they break up, which is very cute.
01:02I love that for them.
01:03I mean, I feel like...
01:04That was so long ago.
01:04I mean, yeah.
01:05When you're a teenager, it's like...
01:07It doesn't even count.
01:07Yeah, it doesn't really count.
01:09That's just play-play.
01:10That's a little puppy love.
01:11I mean, I know, like, we have talked about it in a previous episode.
01:14I mean, she has her friendship with Nicole Richie and everything, who is his wife.
01:18And I think it was really cute.
01:20They sang the anthem, which is one of, like, their classic songs.
01:23Which, I love that.
01:24Like, there's a part of me that feels like seeing her and Nicole together is, like, nostalgic.
01:28Because, obviously, like, Nicole and Paris were ripping and running the streets in the early 2000s.
01:31What a time that was!
01:32What a time it was!
01:33So, it's like, I just kind of want to know, like, what that dynamic is like.
01:37I know.
01:37Like, just imagine a reality show with, like, all of these early 2000s folks.
01:41I mean, they ran Y2K.
01:43Yeah, literally.
01:44They did.
01:45I love that.
01:46I keep wanting to call her Lizzie McGuire, LOL.
01:48Lizzie McGuire, Hilary Dove.
01:49I love, she's our unproblematic queen.
01:50Like, she's one of the ones that came from Disney.
01:53You never saw her wilding out, doing drugs.
01:55Like, she was friends with those girls sometimes.
01:56But she never really, like, lost herself in that, which we love.
01:59Yeah.
02:00She's just healthy and just seems like, she seems like a nice girl.
02:03Mom and daddy must have been around.
02:04I know.
02:05Must have been around.
02:05They must have been around.
02:06And she looks, like you said, healthy.
02:08Like, she's, honestly, doesn't look like she really aged.
02:12Yeah.
02:13That's what happens when you age gracefully.
02:15Yeah, when you're unproblematic.
02:16I love that one of her nights, though, was really crazy, was she had to take her daughter
02:20to get stitches the night, the morning of her MSG concert.
02:24How is it?
02:25Being a mom never ends.
02:26The job never ends.
02:27Never stops.
02:28Even if you're playing MSG.
02:29And I also think it's really sweet.
02:31She was talking about in her speech, like, she had three kids, her three kids were there.
02:35And she was like, I'm so glad I get to show them this.
02:38And I get to accomplish two sold-out shows at MSG, like, with my kids watching me.
02:43I think that's so sweet.
02:44It's like, see, look what all your, like, look what your mom accomplished.
02:48And, like, you could do it, too.
02:49Love that.
02:50Yeah.
02:50Yeah.
02:50So sweet.
02:51That's really cool, too.
02:52Yeah.
02:52And, I mean, obviously, she has a lot to show her children, like, her acting career and music.
02:57Yeah.
02:57Yeah.
02:57It's just really cool to see some of our old faves, like, really make a resurgence and, like,
03:01make, be able to make a stamp into, like, today's history.
03:04And speaking about her music, do y'all remember the Metamorphosis album?
03:07Oh, my God.
03:08That was an album.
03:09That might be a little bit before your time.
03:10But that was my deal.
03:12But I know that one song where it's like, let the rain fall.
03:15Yes.
03:16I know that one.
03:16I mean, that was so good.
03:17It was really good.
03:18That was a really good album.
03:19That was before iPods.
03:20That was way back in the day.
03:21But that was her kind of first, like, album and kind of breaking away from the Disney scene
03:26a little bit.
03:26I think that was still, like, under Disney.
03:28But she was kind of coming up with her own identity outside of Lizzie McGuire and the character
03:32she played.
03:32Wait, I have a little story.
03:33Wait, did you guys ever have any sort of, like, Disney Channel, like, albums or anything?
03:36Totally, yeah.
03:37So there's this one.
03:38I used to love the Cheetah Girls.
03:40Oh, shit.
03:42That was such a fun one.
03:43And that's coming back, by the way.
03:45Exactly.
03:46I mean, I might watch it just because I saw me raving Simone the whole thing.
03:49And Adrian.
03:49And Adrian.
03:50But this girl in my class let me borrow the CD and I did not want to give it back.
03:56She's like, it's mine now.
03:57She was asking for the CD back for weeks and weeks and weeks.
04:00I was like, damn it.
04:00I finally have to give it back.
04:02No.
04:03Shiesty.
04:03You've got to give it back.
04:04If you guys have any sort of, like, Disney Channel, like, CDs or moments that you were
04:08like, this is my favorite.
04:09I would say, like, I, like, Hannah Montana is ingrained in my long-term memory.
04:14Like, any song, no matter how long it's been since I listened to it, I can still name all
04:18the lyrics.
04:18It's really bad.
04:19Yeah.
04:20No, 100%.
04:20Yeah.
04:21Honestly, Hannah Montana is, like, that's a classic.
04:23That's iconic.
04:24Oh, yeah, yeah.
04:25That was a cultural moment.
04:25She brought on a whole generation of pop girls.
04:28Like, if you ask all these pop girlies, like, who inspired you?
04:31They say Hannah Montana.
04:32I know Chapel Roan's one of them.
04:33Yeah.
04:33Like, I think that was in her Call Her Daddy interview.
04:35She said, like, who inspired you to, like, want to be a pop star?
04:38She said Hannah Montana.
04:39Yeah.
04:40Who else?
04:40Yeah.
04:41Honestly.
04:41I also have a Cheetah Girls story where I remember I let my cousin borrow the CD and
04:45I went to her house one day and she had the CD outside the case just willy-dilly.
04:49Oh.
04:49I said, you put that, you don't do that to my Cheetah Girls CD and it was the first one
04:53too where they, like, had that white background and they were all kind of, like, she had the biggest, like,
04:59head in it, kind of.
05:00She was the star.
05:00We all know she was the star.
05:01Galleria Garibaldi, honey.
05:03So, yeah, that was a moment.
05:05And so, yeah, we all had those.
05:06We don't have CDs anymore.
05:08I kind of miss that.
05:09Yeah.
05:09I feel like records have been coming back.
05:12Vinyls.
05:12Vinyls have been making a comeback in the past few years, which is fun.
05:16Like, it's a good collector's item to have around.
05:17The thing about the vinyls is that you can't really, like, mix and match the songs.
05:21Yeah.
05:21Right.
05:22That makes sense.
05:22I mean, that's, like, kind of the point of it, right?
05:24You got to sit there and listen to the whole project and really get into it.
05:27You can't really do too much shuffling around.
05:29You just have to enjoy the project as it was intended to be consumed.
05:33Yeah.
05:33So, by the artists and their vision.
05:35So, I think that's nice.
05:37Yeah.
05:38I enjoy a little vinyl moment.
05:39I have a record player.
05:40I was like, I thought I was really doing something.
05:42Yeah.
05:43Yeah.
05:43And I think, like, with Hilary Duff, too, I think, like, she does have her old fans.
05:47But I think it is fun, like, with her back to her kids watching and everything.
05:51Like, she did say in a previous interview a few years ago.
05:53It was, like, on a late night show where it's, like, it's so embarrassing because my kids,
05:57like, all, like, I think it was her daughter, like, loves listening to her own, like, teeny
06:01bopper music with the windows down.
06:04And it was, like, I think it was the host.
06:06I want to say it was James Corden was, like, oh, my God.
06:08Someone's going to overhear and think Hilary Duff forces her kids to listen to her music.
06:13Oh, well, no.
06:14She would never.
06:15She's too unproblematic for that.
06:17But I love how, like, again, she was, like, the hot young thing back then.
06:22Yeah.
06:23And, like, now we're in a new age where there's a bunch of new people.
06:26Variety has recently released an article with, like, 100 of Hollywood's, like, hottest young
06:31people out right now.
06:33I want to know, like, if you guys had a chance to check out the list, like, who's your favorite?
06:36I'm very into the list because I'm following a lot of people and I do have opinions on them.
06:42I think with these lists, it does come out every year.
06:44And I am curious, obviously, you know, seeing the trajectory of the career, who lasts and
06:49who doesn't.
06:49And I personally have my own thoughts about it.
06:52Like, I love this past year.
06:54I feel like in the height of all the Nepo babies, I feel like we've been appreciating more people
07:01who started with projects who haven't come from much or, like, people who don't have the resources
07:06that the Nepo babies have.
07:08Humble beginnings.
07:08Yeah, humble beginnings.
07:09I feel like that's what's kind of fun.
07:11Like, I think that's what got us all into this job is, like, we're all professional fangirls.
07:16And I love seeing someone start out from the beginning and, you know, growing and becoming
07:21bigger and bigger the more projects they do.
07:23And I know, like, Hudson Williams and Connor Story were on the list.
07:26And that's a good example of it.
07:27Because, as everyone knows, I'm a big heated rivalry fan.
07:30And, like, they started with absolutely nothing.
07:33And they blew up.
07:34They were waiters a few months before they even started.
07:37And that was a meteoric move.
07:39I know.
07:39Like, some people gradually, and they were, like, overnight almost.
07:41It was nice, though, because you could also see that star power.
07:44Like, you know, some people, you don't really get that.
07:45Some people, you just got it already done.
07:46You can't teach it.
07:47They have that.
07:47You can't teach it.
07:48Yeah.
07:49And I love seeing everyone just storming outside.
07:51It just was so nostalgic of the past of, like, how people used to be with celebrities.
07:54It was really cool to see.
07:55I know.
07:56Even, like, to think that the heated rivalry of the first season, it hasn't even been a year since it's
08:00come out.
08:01And, like, seeing them at the Golden Globes and taking on all these projects, it's incredible.
08:06It truly is.
08:07I know they're starting to film season two now.
08:08Oh, I know you're excited.
08:09So I'm excited to see how it goes.
08:11I am.
08:12I feel like their rise is very a la, like, Twilight.
08:14That was my era.
08:15Like, Hunger Games, where those stars became A-listers kind of overnight.
08:19Like, the Jennifer Lawrences and, like, Taylor Lautner and all those guys.
08:22Yeah.
08:23I feel like we also saw it with, who was also on the list, is Curry Barker in Indy Navarrete.
08:28So, Curry Barker is the director of Obsession and Indy Navarrete is the female lead in the movie.
08:34And I feel like this is very special because not only was it a movie made with, like, less than
08:40a million dollars, which is crazy unheard of.
08:43And for it to be as blown up as it is, is crazy.
08:47But also, I feel like...
08:48She ate that roll up.
08:49She did.
08:50It was so good.
08:51She was incredible.
08:51Honestly, from top to bottom, she had me hooked.
08:53Like, I love the way that she played that character, like, Stella's performance.
08:57And I mean, like, not even a few weeks later, she was in a Sombra music video.
08:59Yeah.
09:00Which is, like, obviously, he is a, you know, big new pop star right now.
09:04So, that's really cool to see, too.
09:06And also, in the horror genre, I feel like it's not as common for a horror movie to get its
09:12flowers like that.
09:13Totally.
09:14My girl, speaking of Y2K, Zara Larson, right?
09:17So, she's not a Y2K girly, but her whole aesthetic is very...
09:20Do you guys remember those, like, I forget the name of them, but they were, like, very colorful.
09:24They had the dolphins, a little kind of, like, notepads and things.
09:27Lisa Frank.
09:28The Lisa Frank.
09:29Yeah, her whole aesthetic is very a la Lisa Frank.
09:31Yes.
09:32And so, I love her, the glitter, like, I like, be a girl.
09:36Like, be a girl.
09:36I like the girly aesthetic.
09:37A lot of the girls are trying to be real tough and rugged and stuff.
09:40And she's, like, the most girly, the most feminine.
09:43And her music is very...
09:44She's a pop girl through and through.
09:46And I love Zara Larson for that.
09:48I love that she has the trend on TikTok where, like, she'll bring a girl on stage or a kid
09:51on stage.
09:52It's cute.
09:52Or even an adult on stage.
09:53And they do the dance.
09:55And it's, like...
09:55For the lush life.
09:56Yeah, for lush life.
09:57It's so good.
09:58So, yeah, I love Zara Larson.
10:00Yeah.
10:00And I think that she's also an interesting person to be on the list because she's always been around for
10:06many, many years now.
10:07Yeah, a long time.
10:08But this year, she finally blew up all of a sudden with her new album.
10:12I think Midnight Sun is a big part of it.
10:15And Stateside with Pink Pantherists.
10:17It's, like, I think this year was finally her year to get her flowers.
10:21And it's so nice to see.
10:22She's also a very talented person.
10:24Like, a very good singer.
10:26Oh, totally.
10:26And a very good dancer.
10:27Like, the pop girls are doing it these days.
10:29I really like it.
10:29Yeah.
10:30Yes.
10:30So, who's yours?
10:31That's what I want to know.
10:32Ooh.
10:32Okay.
10:33So, for me, as I was scrolling through the list, I felt like...
10:37It's a long list.
10:37Some of the people that really stood out to me were, like, I Show You Speed.
10:41I know we've talked about him a couple weeks ago for the World Cup.
10:44And, like, I just really, like, admire how he has taken on this opportunity to travel the world as a
10:51streamer and, like, show different aspects of the world that isn't necessarily shown.
10:55Yeah.
10:55So, like, he did all this tour all the way through Africa and going through all these countries and meeting
10:59with these people.
11:00And it was just beautiful to see his interactions with the locals throughout the world.
11:04So, that, to me, is, like, kudos to you, young guy.
11:07Yeah, the streamers are taking over.
11:08Oh, yeah.
11:09I feel like it's definitely a very new platform and a very new way to consume media.
11:13So, for him to break through and be on this list, too, is a pretty big deal.
11:17Yeah, totally.
11:18I mean, I feel like he's really opening doors for future streamers.
11:21Yeah.
11:21And I think he's just doing things a little different, like, not just yelling at the screen, which he has
11:25done in the past.
11:26Right.
11:26You know what I mean?
11:27And, you know, I guess if he goes back to doing that, you know, that's for him.
11:30But it's just, like, taking streaming to a whole other level and, you know, having the World Cup song.
11:35Yes.
11:35That's super huge.
11:36So, he was one of the other people.
11:38And then Angel Reese, just because.
11:40She's just a tall stallion.
11:42I think she's beautiful.
11:43And I know, like, a couple years ago, I felt like she had, like, a lot of hate because people
11:47were, like, pinning her against Caitlin Clark.
11:49And I don't know.
11:50I just kind of like to see her shine and see her winning.
11:52Yeah.
11:52I loved her.
11:53She was in Cardi B and Lotto's video, I think.
11:55Put it on the floor.
11:56Put it on the floor.
11:57And she was also in the Victoria's Secret fashion show, which was huge as a WNBA player.
12:01I think, like, people like her are the reason why, like, the WNBA is having their moment now.
12:06Somebody was just on the court for the WNBA.
12:09Oh, Anaya.
12:10And they were handing her, like, this little glitter basketball.
12:13And she was, like, taking a picture or whatever the case may be from Love Island.
12:16Oh, yeah.
12:17Yeah.
12:19Which is also, like, you know, I love that as well because her father was an NBA player.
12:23Yeah.
12:24Yeah.
12:24Speaking of NBA players, Michael Jordan, but not that Michael Jordan.
12:28Michael B. Jordan, the one I want to talk about.
12:31There was, did you guys see the TikTok where this woman went to her grandmother's house
12:35and she had a picture along with all her cousins and all the, you know how your grandma does,
12:39all the pictures of the family and has a picture, Michael B. Jordan right there.
12:43She's like, now why does my grandma have this?
12:45Yeah.
12:45So valid.
12:47Hilarious.
12:47But what was so cute about it was Michael B. Jordan's response.
12:50Yes.
12:50He really, he FaceTimed, I think he FaceTimed the grandmother.
12:53He sent him a little gift.
12:55Yeah, it was like the jewelry and, like, I think there was an amethyst necklace in there.
12:58Like, he said, he's a very thoughtful celebrity.
13:01He's one of those guys that you feel like, oh, he's a good guy, like, behind the camera
13:05and in front of it.
13:06You know what I'm saying?
13:06Totally.
13:07Like, he gives up.
13:08I agree.
13:08And also, I mean, back to the whole, like, as fangirls conversation, it's kind of like,
13:12you grow up with the posters on your walls and everything of your favorite celebrities.
13:16And I love grandma.
13:17She's like, I'm doing classy.
13:19I'm framing it in the hallway.
13:21And, like, with the rest of the family members, there's Michael B. Jordan.
13:24It's like, as a fan, I see him as family.
13:26Yeah.
13:26Exactly.
13:27He's a full-blown family member.
13:28Some of the girlies would put the posters or, like, the magazine ripouts on the wall
13:32and stuff like that.
13:33Oh, my God.
13:34I love that.
13:35Like, one of my cousins, when I would go to her room and stuff like that, she would have
13:39all of these posters and magazines all over the walls.
13:41Yeah.
13:41I used to think that was the coolest thing ever.
13:43It's so cute.
13:44I used to have, I used to have Corbin, was it Corbin Blue?
13:46Oh, yeah.
13:47The Michael B.
13:47The Michael B.
13:48Yeah.
13:48I just had him right in the back of my closet.
13:52I would open it and be like, hey, Corbin.
13:53It's like, we don't do that as much anymore.
13:55I know.
13:55I mean, we kind of miss, we're really nostalgic for, like, the Y2K era with, like, the vinyls
14:00and the, like, kind of CDs and the posters.
14:03We got to get back to that.
14:04Yeah.
14:04I think the coolest thing was just, like, personalization.
14:07Yeah.
14:07Like, personalize your things.
14:10Yeah.
14:10Put stuff on your laptops, your book bags, your walls.
14:13Like, really make it you.
14:14Yeah.
14:14And, like, kudos to Grandma because I love going into someone's home or their bedroom
14:18and, like, it shows so much, like, about them.
14:21Like, their interests, their tastes.
14:24I mean, so, everyone that walks into that home knows, like, Grandma's a Michael B.
14:29Jordan girl.
14:29Okay.
