04:32The Piraíba is a big fish, and it's very important for the ecosystem.
04:36Just like the prehistoric Piraíba that the team already succeeded in sampling,
04:41the Piraíba sits at the top of the most massive list of freshwater fish in South America.
04:48But unlike the Piraíba, this giant likes to travel far.
04:53To spawn, the Piraíba makes the longest migration of any freshwater fish on planet Earth.
04:58And the team's study will demonstrate the links between the Piraíba populations across the entire course of their migration.
05:07Because these giants need to move so much,
05:10if they aren't protected throughout their whole migration, they could be in serious trouble.
