Watch as a compassionate attempt to rescue a trapped bird takes a tragic yet hilarious turn moments after it is released.
The emotional incident was captured by Wu Zhe in Hefei, Anhui Province, China. The video begins with a small bird trapped inside a building, repeatedly flying into glass windows as it desperately searches for a way out.
Wanting to help, the filmer gently catches the exhausted bird and carefully carries it to an open window. The bird is released from the person's hand and initially flies to freedom.
However, just seconds later, it collides with a nearby metal balcony railing.
