00:00We do not have much career clarity at this point, so we are very confused in our minds.
00:05How is it possible that the entire campus has the same dream?
00:11How is it possible?
00:13If you keep allotting all your energy, time, resources to following the crowd,
00:19then you will be left with no freedom to be with yourself and see things as they are.
00:24Most of the times, find ourselves working in fields without actually being sure if this is what we want to
00:31pursue.
00:31And how do we choose a definite career path when there are so many external influences?
00:37Time, attention, span, all kinds of resources are very limited.
00:40And the number of options in the universe are infinite.
00:44How did you arrive at that conclusion?
00:46That is the question.
00:47How did you decide to place certain things in the mind and reject other things?
00:52Most of us come from ordinary middle-class families.
00:56And then you hear of the job offers and the placement packages.
01:00Wow, so much money.
01:01Don't let that happen.
01:03Nothing really is bigger than you for you.
01:06A young person must carry a healthy contempt towards the world.
01:10From my pants.
01:12It's alright.
01:13I have genuine respect for this, that, systems, processes, big things.
01:18Alright, alright, wonderful, wonderful.
01:19But, but, but, but, hello, hello, hello, hello.
01:23Don't step over me.
01:24What?
01:24Don't step over me.
01:26This is my heart.
01:27Not your shoe rack.
01:28Don't place your boot here.
01:30You are big.
01:30You are big.
01:31Yes.
01:31And I respect you.
01:32But I am bigger than anything else.
01:41Acharya Ji, I am Subhalakshmi Sahu, a first-year B.Tech undergrad here at IIT Bhubaneshwar.
01:48Acharya Ji, many of us, most of the times, find ourselves working in fields without actually being sure if this
01:56is what we want to pursue.
01:58I was going through your book, Truths Without Apology, and I came across this quote, the world is dependent on
02:05your mind and your mind is dependent on the world.
02:08So, our mind is constantly being conditioned by external fear, pressure, societal expectations, comparisons.
02:15So, in this situation, how can we develop our mind to not make decisions based on circumstance?
02:24And how do we choose a definite career path when there are so many external influences?
02:30And how can we actually know our true aspirations?
02:37Good.
02:40Chubha Lakshmi.
02:48The mind will always be a collection of objects from the world, no respite from that.
03:04The issue really is not that the mind is full of worldly objects.
03:11The issue is that mind is selectively full of the world.
03:22That the mind is not really a mirror to the world.
03:27That there is an agency sitting behind the mind,
03:36applying certain filters, certain criteria, certain lenses and then selectively picking from the world,
03:51distorting, making stories and planting those stories in the form of what we call as mind.
04:07Do we really pay equal attention to whatever is going on around us or in the world?
04:16Does that happen?
04:17No.
04:19So, there is a chooser, right?
04:21There is somebody making a choice.
04:24This is what I want to look at.
04:28Right?
04:29And how does he make the choice?
04:32By applying valuation criteria.
04:36I will look at that rather than this because that seems to be more fulfilling to me.
04:47Now, here is the problem.
04:50You are placing certain objects in the mind based on a certain valuation.
04:57You are applying weightages, but you do not know where those weightages come from.
05:05The mind is not a mirror reflecting the world in its entirety.
05:11No, that is not happening.
05:16Do we know what to give importance to?
05:19That is the problem.
05:21That is the problem.
05:22And what you give importance to becomes mind stuff.
05:25Not everything enters mind.
05:27Not everything even stays in the memory.
05:31You choose.
05:32You decide.
05:34But you do not know where the decision is coming from.
05:38That is the problem.
05:40See, the mind and the world will always go together.
05:44So, do not say my mind is influenced by the world.
05:48That is a problem.
05:48No, the mind can have nothing apart from worldly objects.
05:55Right?
05:55Whatsoever is there in the mind in the subtle form
06:01will have some kind of a corresponding expression
06:06somewhere in the universe.
06:09Otherwise, it cannot be in the mind.
06:14So, that is alright.
06:15That there is stuff in the universe
06:17and there is stuff in the mind
06:19and there is a certain mapping between the two.
06:22That is fine.
06:24The problem is,
06:25out of the infinite number of objects
06:29in the infinite universe,
06:32how did you decide to place certain things in the mind
06:36and reject other things?
06:37That is the question.
06:39How do you know what is important?
06:42How do you know what is important?
06:45And the moment that question arises,
06:47Shubh Lakshmi,
06:51the intelligent one would ask,
06:52important for whom?
06:55Important for whom?
06:58Important for me.
07:03Now, if I do not know
07:05what this thing called me is,
07:10what this voice box called the self is,
07:18who keeps talking from inside?
07:21If I do not know that,
07:22then how will I know
07:23what is important for that one?
07:28That one sitting within keeps crying,
07:31I am incomplete,
07:32I am lonely,
07:32I am unfulfilled,
07:34I need certain things
07:36to gain completion.
07:38If I can have certain achievements,
07:40I will feel better.
07:42get me more money,
07:44get me company,
07:45get me something,
07:46this, that, whatever,
07:47get me fame,
07:49get me a partner.
07:52It keeps yelling from within,
07:54constantly clamoring.
07:56But does it know
07:57what it really wants?
07:59And how can you know
08:00what you really want
08:01if you do not know
08:01who you are?
08:05It does not know
08:06its own constitution.
08:07And based on
08:08its unexamined constitution,
08:11it keeps
08:13according importance
08:14to this,
08:15that,
08:15this,
08:16that,
08:16this,
08:16that.
08:17Somebody tells you
08:18engineering is important.
08:20How do you know?
08:21Now,
08:22after that,
08:22obviously,
08:23all the stuff
08:25of your textbooks
08:26will find a place
08:27in the mind,
08:28right?
08:29But before
08:30those textbooks
08:31and their content
08:33entered your mind,
08:35you came to a decision
08:37that engineering
08:38is important.
08:39Now,
08:40that is the more
08:41fundamental question.
08:43How did you arrive
08:44at that conclusion?
08:46How do you know
08:46engineering is important?
08:49Important for whom?
08:51For Shubh Lakshmi.
08:52But Shubh Lakshmi does not know
08:53where her instincts
08:54come from,
08:56where her decisions
08:57come from.
08:59There is just
09:00a general feeling,
09:02just a general feeling,
09:04a feeling we never
09:05bother to investigate.
09:08A feeling that is
09:10taken as fundamental.
09:12No,
09:12it is not fundamental.
09:14There is something
09:15prior to that feeling.
09:18And we don't go into that
09:19because our education system
09:21does not give
09:23any weightage to that.
09:25It's assumed that
09:26if you know about the world,
09:27that would suffice.
09:29How?
09:30The world is infinite.
09:31How will you decide
09:33what to go for?
09:36How will you decide?
09:40Life is short.
09:42Your energies are limited.
09:44Time,
09:45attention,
09:45span,
09:46all kinds of resources
09:47are very limited.
09:47and the
09:48number of options
09:50in the universe
09:50are infinite.
09:51Right?
09:52How do you know
09:53what to go after?
09:56And whether to go after anything?
09:58How do you know?
10:00That is the more
10:01fundamental thing.
10:02So,
10:02what to do?
10:04See how you operate.
10:06Observe yourself in motion.
10:09See how
10:11your decisions happen.
10:13See how
10:13thoughts arise.
10:15See how you
10:17come to like something.
10:18See how you
10:19reject something else.
10:21And when you
10:22see that,
10:23then
10:24a certain clarity
10:25emerges.
10:26Then
10:27a lot of
10:28the clutter,
10:29the clamor
10:32gets cleared.
10:35It will become
10:36progressively clearer.
10:38Right?
10:38We have just
10:39launched ourselves
10:40in one go.
10:43It will become
10:44clearer.
10:44Sir,
10:45actually,
10:46we do not
10:47have much
10:48career clarity
10:49at this point.
10:50So,
10:50we are very
10:50confused in our
10:51minds.
10:52Sometimes we
10:55feel like
10:56survival is
10:57necessary
10:57and other
10:58times
10:58it just
10:59becomes very
11:00confused in
11:01our mind.
11:01What do we
11:02actually want?
11:03The first thing
11:03is to stop
11:05the flow of
11:06energy and
11:07attention and
11:08time and
11:08resources
11:10towards
11:10something
11:11that you
11:12know to be
11:13random.
11:17If you
11:18see,
11:19right now
11:20you are
11:20investing very
11:21heavily in
11:22something
11:23baseless,
11:25first thing
11:26is to
11:27arrest that
11:28flow,
11:29at least
11:29limit that
11:30flow.
11:33And then
11:34you get some
11:34space,
11:35then you get
11:35some time,
11:36then you get
11:37some freedom.
11:39In that
11:40freedom,
11:41clarity emerges.
11:44But if you
11:44keep allotting
11:47all your energy,
11:48time,
11:48resources
11:51to following
11:52the crowd,
11:53then you will
11:54be left with
11:55no space,
11:56no freedom,
11:58no time,
12:01to be with
12:02yourself and
12:05see things as
12:06they are.
12:07You will
12:08remain constantly
12:09busy,
12:10occupied and
12:12that extracts a
12:14lot of inner
12:15fuel, does it
12:15not?
12:16Remaining busy,
12:18remaining busy.
12:20And the
12:21campus, the
12:21world, the
12:22society, the
12:22trends,
12:24they will
12:25keep giving
12:26you a
12:26thousand ways
12:28and reasons
12:29to remain
12:29busy.
12:30And remaining
12:31busy, you
12:33will never
12:33gain clarity.
12:35Never.
12:36Never.
12:37Certain things
12:38can happen
12:40only when
12:41you afford
12:42silences and
12:44pauses.
12:46No silence,
12:47no pause,
12:48no clarity.
12:50And there
12:51is a big
12:52crowd around
12:52you.
12:54and precedents,
12:56seniors and
12:59social media.
13:02The entire
13:03marketplace,
13:04placements,
13:06so much.
13:09I am already
13:10short of time
13:10and I am
13:11already behind.
13:17The department
13:18has 120
13:20and I am
13:21placed 34.
13:23there is
13:24lot to
13:25cover.
13:27So how
13:28do I
13:28pause?
13:29But if you
13:29don't pause,
13:30then your
13:31limited time,
13:32limited energy,
13:33limited life
13:34will be
13:36just invested
13:37towards
13:38something very
13:39random.
13:41Something very
13:41random.
13:42And even if
13:43you achieve
13:44some kind
13:45of so-called
13:46limited relative
13:47success in that
13:48random game,
13:49game, it
13:50would do you
13:51no good.
13:55First of all,
13:56such success
13:57would not come
13:58easy and would
13:58be very expensive
13:59because in a
14:00department of
14:01120, all 120
14:03want to play
14:04the same game.
14:07and in terms
14:08of nature
14:10and IQ
14:11and brain
14:11power, they
14:12are naturally
14:13as gifted as
14:14you are.
14:17So in this
14:20competitive lane,
14:22success does
14:23not come very
14:23easy and even
14:24if it does
14:25come, well
14:27probably it's
14:27not worth it
14:28because you do
14:29not even know
14:30why you want
14:31it to succeed.
14:32because you
14:33do not know
14:34what to do
14:34with the
14:35thing called
14:35success.
14:37You do not
14:38know whether
14:38there is any
14:39success in
14:40being successful.
14:43So you need
14:44to first of
14:45all figure out
14:46things, otherwise
14:47the current is
14:48very strong.
14:50And it can
14:51just carry you
14:53a long
14:54distance in
14:54no time.
14:57Sometimes
14:58it's irreversible.
15:01you find
15:02yourself having
15:04gone downstream
15:05so far, you
15:07can no longer
15:08return.
15:11And then you
15:12are trying
15:14just make up,
15:16catch up,
15:19compensate,
15:20return,
15:24reclaim.
15:26it doesn't
15:27materialize.
15:32Don't be
15:33so over
15:35awed
15:36by anything
15:38massive
15:39that you
15:40lose sense
15:41of yourself.
15:43Yes, yes,
15:44we understand.
15:45Class 11th
15:46and 12th
15:47you come to
15:47the campus
15:48and it's
15:50awesome.
15:51It's
15:51overwhelming.
15:54Right?
15:56Most of us
15:57come from
15:58ordinary
15:59middle class
16:00families
16:01and then
16:02you hear
16:03of the
16:04job offers
16:05and the
16:05placement
16:06packages
16:08and it's
16:08jaw dropping.
16:10Wow, so
16:10much money.
16:11And you
16:12find some
16:12of your
16:12seniors
16:13pocketing
16:14those offers.
16:16So you
16:17develop
16:17some kind
16:19of realistic
16:19hope.
16:20If he
16:21could do
16:21that I
16:21too will
16:22succeed
16:24and then
16:24you join
16:25a corporation
16:25and there
16:26is that
16:26massive
16:27building
16:29so much
16:30taller than
16:31you are
16:32and again
16:33you are
16:34overawed.
16:36Don't let
16:37that happen.
16:38Nothing
16:38really is
16:39bigger than
16:39you for
16:40you.
16:43Is the
16:44building
16:45bigger than
16:45you objectively?
16:46Well, yes.
16:48Is the
16:48building bigger
16:49than you
16:50subjectively?
16:51No.
16:55Yes,
16:55objectively
16:56the building
16:57is bigger
16:57than you.
16:59But
16:59subjectively,
17:00which means
17:01for you,
17:02who is bigger?
17:03You or the
17:03building?
17:05For you,
17:06who is bigger?
17:10If the
17:11building were
17:11to be
17:12demolished,
17:14would that
17:15pain you
17:16so much
17:19compared to
17:20your own
17:20demolition?
17:22So,
17:23subjectively,
17:24who is
17:25bigger?
17:26You are
17:27bigger.
17:28Whenever the
17:29question comes,
17:31this,
17:31that,
17:33always ask
17:34for whom?
17:35For whom?
17:36For whom?
17:39For whom?
17:41And for
17:42you,
17:42everything is
17:43for you
17:43because you
17:44are the
17:45ultimate
17:45subject,
17:46the
17:46experiencer,
17:47the
17:48liver.
17:50You are
17:51the one
17:51to whom
17:52are all
17:53the questions
17:54and all
17:54the answers.
17:56And for
17:57you,
17:57nothing can
17:59be bigger
17:59than you.
18:01For you,
18:02in fact,
18:03nothing
18:03exists
18:04without you.
18:07is there
18:08anything
18:08for you
18:09if you
18:09are not
18:11asking you?
18:12So,
18:13what must
18:13be of
18:14primary
18:14importance
18:15to you?
18:16You.
18:17So,
18:18that building
18:18might be
18:19objectively
18:20taller,
18:20but
18:21subjectively,
18:23no,
18:23no,
18:25no.
18:25this is
18:26something
18:26we are
18:26not
18:27taught.
18:28We are
18:29taught all
18:30the things
18:30that are
18:32objective,
18:33right?
18:36Machines,
18:37laws,
18:38the universe,
18:40the planets,
18:42all kinds
18:43of forces,
18:45gravitational,
18:48electromagnetic,
18:50long-term,
18:51short-term,
18:56we are
18:57also
18:57taught
18:57languages,
19:00right?
19:01Constitutions,
19:02economics,
19:04philosophies,
19:05history,
19:06literature.
19:09But all
19:10of these
19:10are
19:11there,
19:12out
19:12there.
19:15we are
19:16not
19:16encouraged
19:18to ask
19:18the
19:18question,
19:20for whom
19:21are all
19:22this?
19:23That
19:24language,
19:25that language
19:26is to be
19:26spoken by
19:27me.
19:31I am
19:31the one
19:32who is to
19:32benefit from
19:33the history
19:34you are
19:35teaching me.
19:36I am
19:37the developer
19:38and the
19:39consumer
19:39of the
19:40technologies
19:41you are
19:42teaching me.
19:45this
19:46central
19:47subject,
19:48the
19:49experiencer,
19:50the
19:50I,
19:51the
19:52self,
19:54the
19:55subject,
19:55all of
19:56these are
19:56objects,
19:57right?
19:57The
19:57subject
19:58that is
19:59never
20:00given
20:00the
20:01right
20:01respect,
20:03enough
20:03importance
20:04in any
20:06education
20:07system.
20:08The
20:09result is
20:10you forget
20:10to ask
20:11this
20:11question
20:13which
20:13question?
20:15For
20:15whom?
20:17You look
20:17at objects,
20:20you look
20:21at objects
20:21and you
20:21are
20:22bowled
20:22over.
20:24You look
20:25at the
20:25universe
20:26and you
20:26are
20:26mesmerized.
20:28You look
20:29at money
20:32and you
20:33find yourself
20:34captivated.
20:37Right?
20:38All of
20:39these are
20:39objects.
20:42We are
20:42not trained,
20:44not educated,
20:45not encouraged
20:46to ask
20:47how can
20:48anything be
20:49bigger than
20:49me?
20:50Because
20:51school,
20:52college,
20:52university,
20:54we never
20:55had a
20:56course
20:56titled
20:58self.
20:59Me,
21:01I.
21:03Now I
21:04am being
21:04taught of
21:05everything
21:05except
21:07myself.
21:09As if
21:10I am
21:10physics.
21:12As if
21:13I am
21:13the
21:13molecules.
21:15As if
21:16I am
21:16the
21:16equations.
21:20Huh?
21:22Are you
21:23the
21:23equations?
21:25Huh?
21:26No
21:27equation
21:27is
21:28bigger
21:28than
21:28you.
21:33Give
21:34yourself
21:34the
21:35primary
21:35importance.
21:36If
21:36you
21:36will
21:37not,
21:37then
21:38you
21:38will
21:39be
21:39succumbing
21:40to
21:40an
21:40artificial
21:41inferiority.
21:44First
21:45of all,
21:46it's
21:46bad
21:46feeling
21:47inferior.
21:47And
21:48it's
21:48doubly
21:49bad
21:49succumbing
21:50to an
21:51artificial
21:51and
21:52needless
21:52inferiority.
21:56the
21:57subject
21:57has
21:58become
21:58inferior
21:59to the
21:59object,
22:01which is
22:02absurd.
22:03Very
22:03absurd.
22:08So,
22:09your
22:10eyes,
22:13your
22:14mind,
22:15they have
22:16been
22:16trained to
22:17rush to
22:18the
22:19objects.
22:20but you
22:21must
22:22learn
22:22to
22:24remember
22:24all
22:25objects
22:26are
22:27for
22:27you.
22:29No
22:29object
22:30is more
22:30important
22:31than
22:31your own
22:32self.
22:34Never
22:35feel inferior.
22:36Never
22:36forget this.
22:39Never
22:39let the
22:39world be
22:40too big
22:41for you.
22:46Sometimes
22:46I say,
22:47a young
22:47person
22:48must
22:48carry a
22:48healthy
22:49contempt
22:49towards
22:50the
22:50world.
22:53My
22:53shoes.
22:57It's
22:57alright,
22:58I have
22:58genuine
22:58respect for
22:59this,
23:00that,
23:00systems,
23:01processes,
23:01big things,
23:02alright,
23:03alright,
23:03wonderful,
23:03wonderful.
23:04But,
23:04but,
23:05but,
23:05but,
23:05hello,
23:05hello,
23:06hello,
23:06hello.
23:07Don't
23:07step over
23:08me.
23:08What?
23:10Don't
23:11step over
23:11me.
23:13This is
23:14my heart,
23:15not your
23:15shoe rack.
23:17Don't
23:17place your
23:18boot
23:18here.
23:20You
23:21are big.
23:22You
23:22are big,
23:23yes,
23:23and I
23:23respect
23:23you,
23:24but I
23:25am
23:25bigger
23:25than
23:26anything
23:26else.
23:27And
23:28there's
23:28not
23:28ego.
23:30This
23:31is
23:31the
23:32topmost
23:32philosophy
23:33the
23:33world
23:34has
23:34known.
23:35The
23:36highest
23:36has
23:37been
23:37called
23:37the
23:37self.
23:40Atma.
23:42The
23:43highest
23:43has
23:44not
23:44been
23:45given
23:45any
23:45other
23:45name.
23:46The
23:47self
23:47is
23:47the
23:47highest.
23:51Getting
23:52it?
23:54Yeah?
23:54How do
23:55we
23:55differentiate
23:56between
23:57working
23:58for the
23:58self
23:59and being
23:59selfish?
24:01Being
24:02selfish
24:05is not
24:06as
24:07easy
24:07as
24:07we
24:08think.
24:10The
24:11equation
24:12here
24:12is
24:13distorted.
24:15We
24:15feel
24:17being
24:18selfish
24:18is
24:19easy
24:19and
24:19everybody
24:20is
24:20selfish
24:20because
24:21being
24:21selfish
24:21is
24:21easy.
24:25Easy
24:26things are
24:26attained by
24:27everybody.
24:28Being
24:28selfish
24:29is
24:30easy
24:30so
24:30everybody
24:31is
24:31selfish.
24:32selfish
24:32and
24:33then
24:33we
24:33say
24:33well
24:33selflessness
24:34is a
24:35rare
24:36thing.
24:37No.
24:38No.
24:39The
24:39reality
24:40is
24:40very
24:41different.
24:44Very
24:45different.
24:47The
24:47self
24:50for most
24:51of us
24:51does not
24:53even
24:54exist
24:55as we
24:56are.
24:57Where is
24:57the self?
24:58Self
24:58means
24:58I,
24:59me.
25:00somebody
25:01pure
25:02and
25:02authentic
25:02within.
25:03Right?
25:04Where is
25:05the
25:05self?
25:07Where is
25:08the
25:08self?
25:10Do you
25:11have
25:11anything
25:11of your
25:12own?
25:14Too
25:15easily
25:15you
25:16blame
25:16yourself
25:16for being
25:17selfish.
25:19Now
25:20you are
25:20pampering
25:20yourself.
25:21You are
25:21flattering
25:21yourself.
25:22You don't
25:23have a
25:23self.
25:23How can
25:24you be
25:24selfish?
25:25Having
25:26a self
25:27is a
25:27privilege.
25:30The
25:31self
25:31in a
25:32sense
25:32has to
25:33be
25:33earned
25:33rather
25:34reclaimed.
25:35We
25:36don't
25:36have
25:36any
25:36self.
25:37Nobody
25:37is
25:37selfish.
25:39Where
25:40is the
25:40self?
25:40Show
25:41me.
25:43Are
25:43your
25:43thoughts
25:43yours?
25:44No,
25:44they are
25:44very
25:44similar
25:45to
25:45the
25:45thoughts
25:46of
25:46your
25:46batch
25:46mates.
25:49Our
25:49language,
25:51the
25:52fashion
25:52trends
25:52we
25:53follow,
25:54the
25:55political
25:55opinions
25:56we
25:56keep,
25:56the
25:57religious
25:58beliefs
25:58we
25:59carry,
26:00are
26:01any
26:02of
26:02these
26:03individual?
26:05Where
26:06is the
26:06self?
26:09The
26:10social
26:10institutions
26:12we live
26:13by,
26:15the
26:16scripts
26:17we keep
26:17enacting
26:18all our
26:19life,
26:22are they
26:23authentic?
26:25or did
26:25we borrow
26:26them from
26:26somewhere?
26:27Please tell
26:27me.
26:28So where
26:29is the
26:29self?
26:31Where
26:31is the
26:32self?
26:34Tell
26:35me of
26:35one thing
26:36that is
26:36authentically
26:37yours,
26:38anybody.
26:40Where
26:41is the
26:41self?
26:42It's
26:43not so
26:43easy being
26:44selfish.
26:47Where
26:47is the
26:47self?
26:48self?
26:52The
26:52clothes
26:52we
26:53wear,
26:54even the
26:55relationships
26:56we make,
26:57where is
26:58the
26:58self?
27:04You
27:04attain a
27:05certain age
27:05and hormonal
27:06activity
27:08initiates in
27:09the body
27:09and then you
27:10say,
27:11you know,
27:12I need
27:13to have
27:13a
27:13relationship
27:13in that
27:14direction.
27:17Are you
27:18a particular
27:18chemical,
27:19a polymer?
27:23Yep.
27:24An
27:25influence of
27:26biochemistry?
27:28Where
27:28is the
27:28self?
27:34You
27:34are going
27:35this way,
27:35somebody
27:36comes and
27:36tempts you
27:37with some
27:37money,
27:38you change
27:39your direction,
27:39where is
27:40the
27:40self?
27:41Is this
27:42direction
27:43yours?
27:43No.
27:44Even the
27:44previous
27:45direction was
27:45not really
27:46your own.
27:48Maybe there
27:48was some
27:49other temptation
27:49or fear.
27:51Where is
27:51the self?
27:55Where is
27:55the self?
27:58We carry
27:59dreams.
28:00Are your
28:00dreams
28:00authentic?
28:01Please tell
28:01me.
28:02Are your
28:03targets
28:03authentic?
28:07I don't
28:07know whether
28:08you have
28:08this concept
28:09in your
28:10campus.
28:10IT Delhi
28:11we had
28:11this concept
28:12we called
28:13certain
28:13companies
28:14as dream
28:14companies.
28:16Dream
28:17companies.
28:19I'm
28:19Ahmedabad that
28:20translated into
28:20day zero
28:21companies,
28:22meaning much the
28:23same,
28:23dream
28:23companies.
28:28companies.
28:29So I was a
28:30member of some
28:33kind of a
28:34placement committee.
28:36Having a meeting
28:37one day some
28:38faculty members were
28:38also present and I
28:39said, how is it
28:40possible that the
28:41entire campus has the
28:43same dream?
28:48How is it
28:48possible?
28:52We don't like the
28:53same food, even
28:55though even in
28:55that, there is
28:57an unnatural
28:59uniformity.
29:00But still, at
29:02least some
29:03divergence is
29:04there.
29:05As boys, we
29:07all don't fall for
29:08the same girl.
29:09We do not say
29:10she is the dream
29:11girl for all of
29:13us, for the
29:14entire campus.
29:17How is it
29:18possible that this
29:19one company is the
29:20dream company for
29:21everybody?
29:24Surely something
29:25is off, very
29:26off.
29:30Where is the
29:30self?
29:31Please tell me.
29:33Even in your
29:34dreams, there is
29:35no self.
29:39No self at
29:40all.
29:41Writing the
29:42GMAT or the
29:42GRE and applying
29:43to the same
29:44institutions.
29:45Where is the
29:45self?
29:53Everybody trying
29:54to enter the
29:55same lane.
29:57Where is the
29:57self?
30:00There is only
30:01the world and
30:03its fear.
30:06and its
30:07slavery.
30:09The slave has
30:10no self.
30:13Does the
30:13slave have a
30:14self?
30:16Can a slave
30:17afford to
30:18take any
30:19decision by
30:20herself?
30:22There is no
30:23self.
30:23There is just
30:24slavery.
30:25How can we
30:26be selfish
30:26then?
30:27Please be
30:28selfish.
30:30Please be
30:31selfish.
30:34Selfish.
30:35What the
30:36world calls
30:38as selfishness,
30:40very interestingly,
30:43is sometimes
30:45a slur
30:48associated
30:49with one's
30:50refusal
30:52to do
30:55slavery.
30:58they want
30:59you to be
30:59slaves.
31:01And
31:02sometimes,
31:03which is not
31:04very frequent,
31:06you just
31:07refuse.
31:14There is a
31:15micro rebellion.
31:18Very
31:18micro,
31:19very tiny,
31:20like a
31:20little spark.
31:22and that
31:23is labelled
31:24as selfishness.
31:26You need
31:26to be much
31:27more selfish.
31:29But to be
31:30selfish,
31:31first of all,
31:31you must
31:32know the
31:33self.
31:33That which
31:34you call
31:35as yourself
31:38is a
31:39borrowed
31:40thing.
31:42Your
31:43thoughts,
31:44your opinions,
31:44your goals,
31:45your fears,
31:46your hopes,
31:47all are
31:47borrowed.
31:48There is no
31:48authentic
31:49self.
31:51We keep
31:52uttering
31:52I,
31:53I,
31:53I,
31:53I want
31:54this,
31:54I don't
31:55like this,
31:55I am
31:56going
31:56there.
31:58We keep
31:59uttering
31:59I,
31:59but that
32:00I
32:01is very
32:02adulterated,
32:04very hollow.
32:07There is
32:07no solidness,
32:08no substance
32:09to that
32:10I.
32:13Time
32:13changes
32:14the I,
32:14does it
32:15not?
