Transcript
00:01Around 9 o'clock at night, I'm by Central Park, and I turn a corner, and there he was, a
00:08giant owl in the middle of the sidewalk.
00:10The wingspan must have been six feet across.
00:13It became clear that this was potentially a Eurasian eagle owl, which there are no Eurasian eagle owls in North
00:21America.
00:21You have to understand, an escaped zoo animal is like a plot from a movie.
00:28He lived his entire life in the zoo. His enclosure is very small, and his muscles had probably never fully
00:37developed.
00:38This owl can't even fly that well. He would crash into branches. Surely he won't be able to hunt. I
00:44did think he should be caught.
00:46I was like, this is horrible. He's starving and terrified.
00:51And then all of a sudden, it's a huge accomplishment for a 13-year-old owl to learn how to
00:59fly and hunt in a week.
01:01That changed my opinion of what should happen to Flacco next.
01:08People were relating to Flacco. They were seeing him as a hero.
01:11Central Park has a famous owl named Flacco.
01:14Flacco.
01:15Flacco.
01:15Flacco.
01:16Flacco.
01:16Flacco.
01:16I am addicted to Flacco.
01:19I loved his face. I loved his vibes.
01:22Those eyes are just, like, so mesmerizing.
01:25Show Ollie your Flacco.
01:27He started leaving Central Park and branching out more.
01:32I looked up, and there he was on my air conditioner.
01:35He's been here for a couple of weeks now. We embraced him, and he's part of the lowest side.
01:40I see Flacco here.
01:43Ooh, ooh, ooh.
01:44Every day.
01:46Flacco, we love you.
01:49There's adrenaline involved in chasing Flacco, you know, because you don't know where he's going to go next.
01:55I hear him!
01:56Oh!
01:56What happens when you take a bird that had been in a cage for his whole life, and you just
02:01let him go?
02:02He's wild, but he lived with people all his life.
02:05We've never seen anything like this, ever.
02:08Ooh!
