00:07Rivers Cuomo from Weezer backstage at Leeds and I'm Pat Wilson from Weezer in
00:13the same place. Today Leeds was cold and fun and it was a great show. Yeah, there
00:21was a girl lifting up her shirt. She had a bra on so it was cool. Would have been
00:27cooler without it? She started to take it off but I said no. I have to. Why? Because
00:36I'm married. It's all right. We're just people. Yeah, I guess you're right. It's
00:41great. I mean we haven't been here in five years or something but you know
00:46everywhere you look it's just packed with Weezer fans. Everybody's singing all the
00:50words so we know England still loves us and that makes us want to come back even
00:56more. We've been around long enough that we can see you know one generation of
01:03geezers out there. They totally love us. They remember us from back in the day
01:0694, 95 and then we see another generation the younger kids maybe even the geezers
01:12kids. These are just little kids and they know all the words too. So it's
01:17definitely turning into a multi-generational phenomenon. Well I think
01:21our goal putting together a set is always to give the fans what they want
01:27and cause as much excitement and mayhem at the venue as possible. We went back to
01:322000 tonight with Teenage Dirtbag and mixed up some MGMT and Lady Gaga. Just you know a
01:41few curveballs but other times like later this year I think we may do a special
01:50tour where we focus on Pinkerton and Blue Album our first two albums and play
01:55those albums in their entirety because you know it's feeling like that's what the
01:59fans want want to try and you know those will just be in smaller venues but
02:03it's gonna be fun for everybody I think. Our guitar player Brian got it got his wires
02:08crossed and it's it's true there's a lot of confusing things going on in Weezer
02:12world right now we have a clothing line coming out with Hurley and we played a
02:17show with Hurley for the Hurley clothing company they sponsored it and so in this
02:24interview Brian said Hurley the clothing company paid to have us call our new
02:29album Hurley or something like that and later on he went went back and made a
02:35retraction and said that wasn't true because it's not the album is called
02:39Hurley because it has Hurley the character from Lost on the cover but a
02:44lot of journalists haven't figured that out yet and they still think the album is
02:49called Hurley because of a clothing company so categorically we have not sold
02:56out we're still the band we always were if we did take some money from a
03:03clothing company to call you know to name the album after them we would tell you
03:08hey didn't we sell out in like 94 Hurley is coming out on September 14th and it's
03:19kind of returned to the very raw emotional high-energy rock that the Weezer is
03:24known for the first single is called memories it's actually written about how much I
03:31love coming to Europe coming to the UK and doing these big festivals and it was
03:37written at a time when I'd been away from the band for a while and I was really
03:40missing it and yeah you can hear that spirit of of wanting to be with a band and
03:48rocking throughout the whole album I feel more secure now than in the beginning of
03:53our career because I've seen that we can Weezer can do all kinds of things and make
03:59all kinds of crazy mistakes and our fans just love us so much and they stick with
04:04us they keep asking us to come back and put out more records and do more shows
04:08and there's just so much demand that it gives me a feeling of security of course
04:13you know someday that's that'll all go away and they'll all be over but it doesn't
04:18feel like it's gonna happen anytime soon
