00:08Hi, my name's Chris. I'm the bass player from Mews and we are at Tea in the Park in Scotland.
00:14It's been pretty good here. I think it's the first time I've been to Tea in the Park and it's
00:18not been raining, which is always a bonus.
00:21I think for any festival that you do, the weather always has a massive impact on festivals,
00:26the enjoyment for the crowd and for the bands as well. Obviously the longer the rain holds off the better.
00:32Hopefully this will be a good one. Last time we were here it was terrible.
00:36Personal highlight of 2010? There's been lots. Big day out at the start of the year in January and February
00:46was great down in Australia.
00:48Australia is probably one of my favourite places to tour because the weather is so great and the distances between
00:54gigs are so huge.
00:55You usually have three days off for every gig you play so you spend most of your time on the
00:59beach.
00:59But in terms of gigs, I think maybe the American tour. We did our first proper Arena America tour this
01:07year.
01:07And I think for many years America had really fallen by the wayside. With the first two albums we did
01:14absolutely nothing there.
01:16When we released Absolution we started touring in America but it was starting from scratch again.
01:22So we went back to playing in the small clubs which was really good fun and it was really nice
01:26to go back and do those small venues again.
01:28But after a while we kind of thought it would be really nice to be able to go to America
01:33with a full production and let the Americans see what everyone in the rest of Europe has seen.
01:38It was nice to go over and do a proper tour with exactly the same as what we would have
01:43done in Europe.
01:44And it was great. We played some really big arenas over there and the album did really well so obviously
01:50more people wanted to come and see us play.
01:51So I think with America it was something we never really expected to happen. So I think it was one
01:56of those things that we really appreciate that it's something that we've got that we never expected and hopefully it
02:02will carry on.
02:03Next year it's still kind of open really. I mean there's potential for some time off or there's always gigs
02:10we can do.
02:11There's so many places we still haven't been. I mean even after two years of touring there's still loads and
02:16loads of countries we've not been to.
02:18So we could carry on if we wanted to or we could take a bit of time off or we
02:22could jump straight to another album.
02:23But I think we'll definitely take some time off after this touring period because it's something we've never done.
02:30I think the most amount of time off we've had is probably six weeks in the last 12 years.
02:35So I think we'll definitely take a bit of time off but I'm sure we'll definitely start working on a
02:40new album next year.
