00:11You were at Leeds Festival 2011 and you're watching NME.com.
00:15I think The National, we've been touring for almost more than a year and a half now,
00:21since Psy Violet, so we're a little tired.
00:26I think we need to take a break from being in a band.
00:29But already we've started thinking about how to make another album and we talk about it.
00:35So there's interest in doing it and there are a few ideas floating around.
00:42But I don't think we would actually do anything until late 2012, like recording.
00:48We want to write, we always say classic songs, but that's all we ever want to write.
00:53It's like songs that endure somehow, that aren't like discardable.
00:58But that's, I think every band wants that.
01:00But we've talked about simple simplicity and not a lot of layering.
01:05We'd skirt this line of just finding our own sound, which I think is what The National is.
01:09But at the same time, I think we're going to cast a pretty wide net as far as sounds and
01:16styles.
01:17We're thinking a garage-y blues record.
01:20Yeah.
01:22We were affected by the fire at the PS Sony warehouse in London recently.
01:27Lost all of our stock, as did Beggar's Banquet, the current label for The National.
01:35I think, you know, for artists who have active releases in the UK that are shipping a lot of units,
01:41it disrupted that, you know, quite tangibly.
01:44I think for us, we had some stock in stores and, you know, a lot of the artists are kind
01:48of small boutique artists
01:50where you're not selling thousands of records a week, you're selling, you know, maybe 20 records a week.
01:56And so in a way, we're able to ship enough units over from the States to cover that loss.
02:02The film, it's called Summer Loving Torture Party.
02:06And it's kind of, it's more, it's actually more...
02:09Written in kind of gothic script, because the joke is that he's not really into our music.
02:13He's like a black metal fan.
02:15And so it's, you know, Summer Loving Torture Party.
02:19He's like, he only likes heavy metal and our music is kind of wussy relative to what he likes.
02:23In a way, it's a documentary about this whole time.
02:26But more importantly, it's about Tom and his relationship with Matt
02:31and then all of our relationships as brothers.
02:33But I think it's actually kind of moving, hopefully.
02:36So we want to do something with that.
02:38I don't know what we would do, but maybe, maybe there would be some kind of release
02:43that would, maybe there would be music involved, but I don't know. So we'll see.
