00:00Daily Devotional, Monday, August 3rd. God looks at the heart. But the Lord said to Samuel,
00:07Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord
00:15does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the
00:23heart. First Samuel 16, 7, when Samuel went to anoint Israel's next king, he naturally assumed
00:32the tallest, strongest, and most impressive looking son of Jesse would be God's choice. But God had a
00:41different perspective. While people are often drawn to appearances, accomplishments, and outward
00:48success, God looks deeper. He sees the heart. It's easy to fall into the trap of measuring ourselves
00:56by the world's standards. We compare our looks, abilities, careers, finances, or popularity with
01:03others, and wonder if we measure up. But God isn't looking for perfect appearances. He's looking for
01:11surrendered hearts. A humble heart that loves him, trusts him, and desires to obey him is precious
01:21in his sight. This truth is also a reminder of how we should treat others. We don't know the battles
01:29people are facing or the work God is doing within them. Instead of judging by outward appearances,
01:36we're called to love people as Christ loves them. And remember that every person is created in God's
01:45image. Today, don't spend your energy trying to impress people. Instead, ask God to shape your heart
01:54into one that reflects his character. A heart filled with faith, humility, compassion, and obedience
02:04will always matter more than outward appearance. Heavenly Father, thank you for seeing beyond what
02:12others can see. Thank you that you know my heart completely and still love me. Search my heart and
02:20reveal anything that doesn't honor you. Create in me a clean heart that loves you above all else.
02:28Help me to care more about pleasing you than impressing people and teach me to see others through
02:34your eyes. In Jesus' name, amen. Are you spending more time improving your outward image or allowing
02:43God to transform your heart? Today's truth. God is not impressed by outward appearance. He delights in a
02:53heart that is fully devoted to him. The world encourages us to chase appearance, success, and approval, but
03:02God desires something far greater. A heart that is humble, surrendered, and fully devoted to him.
03:11Today, ask God to transform your heart so your life reflects his love, grace, and truth. Leave an amen
03:20if your greatest desire is to please God more than people. Share this devotional with someone who needs
03:28this reminder and follow for more daily Bible verses, devotionals, prayers, and encouragement from God's Word.
