Darline Graham and four rivals debated Monday in South Carolina, one week before the Aug. 11 special primary to fill the Senate seat once held by her late brother Lindsey Graham. She is running against Reps. Ralph Norman and Russell Fry, businessman Mark Lynch, and former Gov. Mark Sanford.

Graham touted President Trump's endorsement, saying, "When President Trump called, I answered because I'm a hard worker, and I'm proud to have his endorsement," and "I'm 100 percent behind him." She pledged to nuke the filibuster to pass Trump's voter-ID legislation, noting this differs from her brother Lindsey's position, and said she co-sponsored the Save America Act and is willing to stay through recess to get it done.

Rep. Russell Fry hit her over lacking political experience, saying "the United States Senate is no place for on-the-job training." Graham countered that her outside perspective is an asset and called herself "a bargain shopper."

She also snapped at Mark Lynch for repeatedly mentioning Lindsey Graham, suggesting he feared losing to "his little sister," and defended her brother after Lynch accused him of supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Graham, 62, has never held elected office but would be the first woman and first HBCU graduate to represent South Carolina in the Senate.
