00:12Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department Director, Commissioner Datuk Hussain Omar Khan,
00:18said the arrests were made between July 27th and 31st under OpsCAS KLIA, covering nine separate incidents.
00:25Five Malaysians and seven foreign nationals, aged between 18 and 53, were detained.
00:32Police seized over 260 kilograms of marijuana buds and just over one kilogram of cocaine,
00:39with a combined estimated value of 21.26 million ringgit.
00:44Commissioner Hussain said the drugs are believed to have entered Malaysia via land and sea routes
00:49before being trafficked onward to Europe.
00:52Foreign suspects had entered the country for short stays of three days to a week,

01:35He added security protocols at KLIA are now under comprehensive review,
01:40following a joint meeting Monday between airport stakeholders,
01:44the Transport Ministry and enforcement agencies.
01:46The Ministry has proposed revising standard operating procedures
01:50to elevate narcotics detection to the same top priority tier as weapons and contraband.
01:57Commissioner Hussain said police are also investigating possible insider involvement,
02:02including so-called counter-setting operations, allegedly using airport staff.
02:06He revealed drug seizures at KLIA have surged from 18.4 million ringgit last year
02:13to an estimated 108.3 million ringgit between January and July this year.
02:19Over that seven-month period, police recorded 108 cases and 121 arrests,
02:25including 52 foreign nationals, seizing 1.3 tonnes of illicit drugs.
