00:04Trinity Leeds marked Yorkshire Day by giving locals a chance to spur on Sir Kevin Sinfield
00:09by leaving well wishes on rugby shirt cards ahead of his final 7-7 challenge in September.
00:17He's running an ultramarathon every day for seven days,
00:20visiting all 12 English Super League grounds,
00:23while adding to his £11 million total for motor neurone disease charities
00:27in honour of his close friend and former team-mate, Rob Burrow.
00:32We met some of the fans who left messages of support and two people impacted by MND.
00:37We're both Leeds Rhinos fans, season ticket holders,
00:41but I remember watching Sir Kevin when he made his debut as 16, 17-year-old,
00:47getting battered around a bit, he was a bit too small,
00:50he was in the pack getting hit by some big guys, but yeah, what an inspiration.
00:55Rob Burrow was my hero, he was our favourite player,
00:59and obviously what he went through outside of rugby was really hard to watch,
01:04but you know, when you've got a mate like Sir Kev next year,
01:07inspiring not only people from Leeds, but around the UK,
01:11and obviously now over in Australia with Jayara,
01:15you know, both of them are just absolute heroes.
01:18This time last year, I think it was, he did one of the latest challenges,
01:21and he ran pretty much past our house, so we all went outside and cheered him on,
01:26doing one of his marathons, and yeah, what he's done for the charity,
01:30what he's done for the city, what he's done for sports, what he's done for Rob,
01:34you know, it's inspiring stuff, and yeah, we wish him best in everything he does.
01:39My dad's had MND for 11 years, so it's very personal to me.
01:43Obviously, I like to volunteer and help out as much as I can,
01:46to hopefully help other people like my dad.
01:48My partner, Shirley, she passed away from MND four years ago,
01:53so for those of us that are affected by MND, it gets quite emotional,
01:57but it's nice to do something, isn't it?
01:59It's nice to put something back.
02:00It's giving something back.
02:01When Rob was diagnosed back in 2019, Rob Burrow,
02:06Kevin said he would raise funds to help his family,
02:09and he's helped the whole family, the all MND family,
02:13so there might be 250 people in Yorkshire.
02:16In fact, 5,000 people in the UK, he's helped every one of them, both of them have.
02:22There isn't enough words to describe how grateful people in the MND community are,
02:27and for the awareness that it creates, people are a lot more aware of what's going on,
02:32how it affects the person, how it affects the families,
02:36because it's not just a one diagnosis.
02:38When someone's diagnosed with MND, the family's diagnosed with it, the friends.
