00:02Indonesian Customs at Jakarta's Sukarno-Hatta Airport have released CCTV footage on their
00:08official Instagram page, showing what they say was a major narcotic smuggling attempt
00:13by the 39-year-old Malaysian pilot last week.
00:16The footage shows the suspect arriving at Terminal 3 International on July 29th, before
00:21clearing his customs declaration online and being assessed by a risk assessment officer.
00:25He was initially directed to the crew fast-track lane, but officers say risk-based profiling
00:30flagged him for further checks.
00:32A search of his luggage allegedly turned up 26 kilograms of ecstasy, more than 70,000
00:37pills, along with 4 grams of methamphetamine.
00:41Officers say they also found a small bottle of urine, suspected to have been prepared to
00:45fake a drug test result.
00:47The suspect and the seized items have since been handed over to Indonesia's criminal
00:51investigation agency for further investigation.
00:54At a press conference last Friday, Customs Officer Henki Tomohan Parlindungan Aritonang
00:59said the pilot, who was identified by the initials MS, had just flown a Malaysia Airlines
01:05plane from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta.
01:08The pilot had allegedly brought the MDMA in a suitcase to Jakarta at the request of an
01:13unidentified person with the promise of a RM50,000 reward.
01:17The pilot had been under the influence of cocaine and methamphetamine after a urine test,
01:21Henki said, adding Indonesia and Malaysian authorities are in communication.
01:26Malaysia Airlines declined to comment on the case as it was under investigation, but said
01:32it does not tolerate any form of misconduct and is currently conducting an internal review
01:36into the matter.
