00:01Malaysia's Border Control and Protection Agency says the pilot arrested for alleged drug smuggling in Indonesia
00:07had passed through every required security check at KLIA.
00:12AKPS Director General Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohamad Shuheli Mohamad Zain
00:16said checks confirmed the pilot underwent all standard screening procedures before boarding his flight on July 28th.
00:23He clarified that AKPS agencies, including customs,
00:26were not responsible for baggage x-ray screening at KLIA that falls under Aviation Security, or AVSEC, which operates under
00:35Malaysia airports.
00:36He explained the screening system combines AI-assisted risk assessment with human judgment.
00:41The scanner flags a risk level, but officers make the final call on whether extra checks are needed.
00:47He said the bag did not trigger a higher risk classification, so standard procedure did not require secondary screening,
00:53adding that the drugs may have been concealed in a way the scanner could not detect.
00:58Commissioner Mohamad Shuheli also defended his personnel's competency,
01:02citing AKPS's track record intercepting drug and contraband cases,
01:07and said the system's effectiveness will be reviewed once investigations conclude.
01:12On the possibility of an inside job, he said any integrity breach confirmed by investigators would not be tolerated.
01:18A joint meeting between airport stakeholders and authorities,
01:22chaired by the Transport Ministry Secretary-General,
01:25has been held to review security protocols.
