00:00I pretty much lost it watching these baby bears play in their new space,
00:03especially knowing where they came from. I'm Rebecca from the Dodo, and I now have
00:07full-on moon bear obsession, so I reached out to Free the Bears to learn more about these cubs.
00:13But actually, these perfect little bear cubs were not always able to run around like this.
00:19And here at the Dodo, we learned all about their rescue from Free the Bears. So let's get into it.
00:29Jose and Fitz are two-month-old moon bear cubs,
00:32which means they should still be tucked away in a forest den with their mom. Instead,
00:38they were found being sold by wildlife traders. And in cases like this, their mother is usually
00:43killed so the cubs can be taken. When rescuers from Free the Bears arrived, the two cubs needed help
00:51immediately and were rushed to a sanctuary in Laos. They were incredibly fragile,
00:57each weighing less than three kilos and needed to be cared for around the clock.
01:03Because at this age, survival means milk every few hours and constant monitoring.
01:10But little by little, Jose and Fitz started to feel safe and finally comfortable enough to come out of
01:16their shells. And it turns out they're very rambunctious. They love climbing just about anything,
01:24getting the zoomies, and definitely keeping sanctuary staff on their toes. It's so hard to believe that
01:32anyone would ever cage these babies up. And so incredible that Free the Bears was able to give them
01:37a second chance at life.
