Sen. Imee Marcos on Sunday, Aug. 2, called for an investigation into complaints that farmers are allegedly being ordered to stop planting and are facing intimidation as the government pursues the Pax Silica Initiative.

Marcos stressed that any land-use conversion must comply with Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 2002, adding that promises of billions of dollars in investments and jobs should not come at the expense of the livelihoods of farmers and indigenous peoples.
