00:05It was a song by R.E.M. called What's the Frequency, Kenneth?
00:09And I always get jammed into that song, so I had to let that finish before I came in here.
00:14So, I want to talk today about something that's awesome.
00:18And if you think about it, it's an aha moment.
00:22What you need may already be in the room.
00:26I want you to think about that. Isn't it interesting how often we move through life believing that the answer
00:33must be somewhere else?
00:35You know, we think we need a better opportunity, a better tool, a better plan, or completely different circumstances.
00:44I mean, how often do we do that to ourselves?
00:47We convince ourselves that progress is waiting in something that we lack.
00:53Then, sometimes, after we spend months frustrated, searching, replacing things, and questioning ourselves,
01:01we discover that the solution was already sitting nearby.
01:06You know, recently that happened to me here with this YouTube channel.
01:09And this is kind of what inspired this.
01:11It's a conversation that we were recently having.
01:13So, for about nine months, we've been dealing with camera issues on the channel here.
01:19The video setup was not working the way it should.
01:22It's so frustrating.
01:24And it's just extra stress that I don't need.
01:27We started trying to identify the problem.
01:30We thought the laptop might be the issue.
01:32So, we got rid of the laptop we had been using to stream the videos.
01:37But the real problem was not the computer.
01:41What we needed was a different cord connecting the camera to the computer.
01:47And many times it's something simple like that, right?
01:51And here's what makes the lesson powerful.
01:54We already had the cord in our home.
01:58The answer was not in a store.
02:00The answer was not in a newer computer.
02:04It was not in some expensive upgrade.
02:07It was already in my house.
02:10We had what we needed.
02:12But because we were looking for something bigger, we overlooked something simple.
02:18You know, that sounds like a lesson.
02:20Because it is.
02:22It's a lesson about life.
02:25Friends, how often do we do the same thing emotionally, spiritually, or personally?
02:33You know, we assume that the breakthrough must come from something new.
02:37We imagine peace will arrive when the circumstances change.
02:41We tell ourselves confidence will come when someone approves of us.
02:47We believe we will serve God when we have more time, more money, knowledge, or more influence.
02:55Meanwhile, something God has already given us may be sitting right in front of us.
03:02You know, maybe it's a skill that we've stopped valuing.
03:06Maybe it's a relationship we have neglected.
03:09Maybe it's a lesson we already learned but have not applied.
03:14Maybe it's a small opportunity that does not look impressive enough.
03:19Maybe it's the strength to take just one more step.
03:23Even though we do not yet have the strength to see the whole journey.
03:28We live in a world that constantly tells us that what we have is not enough.
03:34Advertising is built around that message.
03:37Comparison is built around that message.
03:41Social media can quietly reinforce that message.
03:45Someone else has a better camera, a larger audience, a nicer home, a faster business, a stronger body, or a
03:56life that seems more complete.
03:59Soon, we stop asking, what has God already placed in my life?
04:05And we begin asking, what am I still missing?
04:11You know, Jesus often taught people to look again at what was already present.
04:17One of the clearest examples is the feeding of the 5,000.
04:21Think about that.
04:22A huge crowd had gathered and the disciples could see an enormous problem.
04:28The people were hungry.
04:29The location was remote.
04:32The need was greater than their visible resources.
04:35The disciples looked at the crowd and thought about what they did not have.
04:41They did not have enough money.
04:43They did not have enough food.
04:46They did not have enough time.
04:49They didn't have a practical answer.
04:52But Jesus, well, Jesus asked them to look at what was available.
04:58A boy had five loaves and two fish.
05:02Humanly, it was not enough.
05:04It looked almost irrelevant compared to the size of the need.
05:09Yet, Jesus did not dismiss the small provision.
05:15He received it, gave thanks, broke the bread, and used what was already there.
05:22The miracle began with something that could easily have been overlooked.
05:27Jesus could have created food in any way.
05:31But he drew attention to what was already in their hands.
05:37He showed the disciples that small does not mean useless.
05:43Limited does not mean worthless.
05:46Ordinary does not mean powerless when it is placed in the hands of God.
05:51Sometimes, we're waiting for God to send us something dramatic while he's asking us to notice something ordinary.
06:00We're asking for a new computer, and the answer is a cord that's already in the house.
06:07We're asking for a new direction, and the answer may be the responsibility already in front of us.
06:14We ask for a bigger platform, and the answer may be to serve the few people already listening.
06:22We are asking for more confidence, and the answer may be to act faithfully while we still feel uncertain.
06:32We are asking for a completely different life, and God may be showing us how to use the life we
06:39have more wisely.
06:42Think about that.
06:43This does not mean we will never need anything new.
06:46I get that.
06:47There are times when a new tool, a new relationship, a new opportunity, or a major change is necessary.
06:58Faith is not pretending that every solution is already visible.
07:03It's not refusing help or resisting growth.
07:07You see, the lesson is that we should not overlook what we already have, simply because we assume the answer
07:16must be somewhere else.
07:18Before replacing everything, look again.
07:23Before deciding you are unprepared, look again.
07:27Before telling yourself that God cannot use you, look again.
07:33Before believing that your life is empty, look again.
07:39You may already be more than you realize.
07:42You may already have more.
07:44You may have experience that came through hardship.
07:48You may have wisdom that was earned through mistakes.
07:52You may have compassion because you know what pain feels like.
07:57You may have a story that could encourage someone else.
08:01You may have a gift that seems small because it comes naturally to you.
08:08But it's not small.
08:10It's a special gift that only you can represent to the world in the way it was meant to be
08:17used.
08:18You may have access to one person who needs exactly what you can offer.
08:24Imagine that.
08:25You.
08:27Making a difference in someone else's life.
08:31That's beautiful.
08:33You see, you may have a Bible, a quiet room, a willing heart, and enough courage for today.
08:40And that, my friend, may not look like much to the world.
08:45But five loaves and two fish didn't look like much either.
08:50The question is not always, do I have enough?
08:54Sometimes the better question is, have I placed what I have in the hands of Christ?
09:02Because what we possess can feel insufficient when we measure it only by ourselves.
09:09But when we offer it to God, he can multiply its purpose.
09:14He can use a simple conversation to change someone's direction.
09:18He can use a small act of kindness to restore hope.
09:23He can use a painful chapter to help another person survive theirs.
09:29He can use modest beginnings to build something meaningful over time.
09:37Friends, the camera cord did not look important to us until we understood what it could connect.
09:46That may be true for something in your life right now.
09:50Take a look.
09:51There may be a resource, an ability, a relationship, an idea, or an opportunity that seems too ordinary to matter.
10:01But perhaps its value is not in how impressive it looks.
10:07Perhaps its value is in what it connects.
10:11It may connect you to your next step.
10:15It may connect your experience to someone else's need.
10:19It may connect your faith to action.
10:23It may connect the person you are today with the person God is helping you to become.
10:29You have no idea how great tomorrow might be.
10:36So, pause before you assume that you need more.
10:40Look around your life with gratitude instead of frustration.
10:45A positive attitude can take you everywhere.
10:49A negative attitude, it goes nowhere.
10:54Ask God to show you what you have been overlooking.
10:57Ask Him to help you recognize the people, the tools, the lessons, and the opportunities already within reach.
11:06Then take what you have, even if it feels small, and offer it faithfully.
11:13You may discover that the solution was not far away.
11:16You may discover that God has already provided the beginning you want.
11:22You may discover that what you thought was missing was actually waiting to be noticed.
11:29And perhaps, the next breakthrough in your life will not begin when someone new arrives.
11:38Perhaps, it will begin when you finally recognize that it's already in the room today.
