00:00Five hundred years ago, a man was rotting in prison.
00:02Because he read a book, which is going to take his life, but what was in the book?
00:05His name was Giordano Bruno, a fearless thinker in the 16th century fed up with the lies of the world.
00:10He started to question everything.
00:12In pursuit of truth, he began reading the books banned by the church.
00:15In one of those ancient Roman books, he read something strange,
00:18that the universe has no end, it goes on forever.
00:21But back then, the church taught that Earth was the center of everything,
00:24that the stars and planets revolved around us.
00:26To them, it was divine truth.
00:27But Bruno believed otherwise.
00:29He said Earth was just another planet, floating in an infinite cosmos.
00:32He had no telescope, no evidence, just raw, dangerous imagination.
00:35But in those days, ideas could kill you.
00:37The church caught him red-handed and warned him to stop.
00:40Because if he got right, their entire belief system would collapse.
00:42They threw him in prison, tortured him for eight long years, demanding to abandon his beliefs.
00:47But Bruno never broke.
00:48So they dragged him to the public square, stripped him naked,
00:50and burned him alive for daring to speak the truth.
