00:11He hit a ball over 200 mile an hour swing speed.

00:15Ball speed, rather. Yeah, 200 mile an hour swing speed would be really impressive.
00:19But 200 mile an hour ball speed and 350 in the air on a carry.
00:23I need to see this. I mean, this is unbelievable.
00:25Like, that is not just, that's not tour level good, that's elite tour level good.
00:31Like, that's better than, take your pick, that's better than Scotty.
00:36Now, he wanted to be clear about the fact that the rest of his game is not on that same
00:40level.
00:41Well, he said it doesn't necessarily always go straight.
00:43Exactly. It's like a six handicap or whatever.
00:45But he can play good golf, it sounds like. He plays over at Raspberry Falls and some other places around
00:49here.
00:49He said his career low is two under par. So, not too bad.
00:52But to hit the ball that far and that hard?

00:58That is insanity.
01:00That's a totally different game than I play.
01:02Like, I feel like I hit the ball probably about as far as the average golfer.
01:07Maybe slightly further, maybe a little bit less.
01:09I probably average about, I don't know, 260-ish off the tee.
01:13And I'm going to be almost 100 yards behind him.
01:18But he won a long drive in a competition that Bryson DeChambeau was taking play in.
01:25Now, he was at different tees, which I guess is an important caveat.
01:28But still, Sinnott is going to help this football team this year.
01:32He's a good football player.
01:33He's just, he gets a raw deal and I think fans get very upset because of where he was drafted.
01:39And here's how I think this is just going to have to be viewed moving forward.
01:43People got to get over where he was drafted.
01:44I talk about this a little bit with Dylan Cruz where he was the number two overall pick in the
01:49draft.
01:49So, it's not good enough for people and I understand that.
01:53You can have two conversations.
01:55Whether worthy of the pick or not is one.
01:58The other is, is this a helpful contributor?
02:00And Dylan Cruz is an excellent baseball player.
02:02He's a winning baseball player.
02:04He does so many things well.
02:06In the way of Ben Sinnott, if he was drafted where John Bates was drafted,
02:10fifth round pick, if he was a fourth or even a third round pick,
02:12I don't think the vitriol and the animus would be the same.
02:16But because he was drafted essentially in the top 50, people expect so much more.
02:20But he proved that he can block.
02:21I think he's going to get a better chance to help out catching footballs this year too.
02:25Speaking of blocking up front though, Sam Cosme, the right guard for the Washington Commanders
02:29had just come off the practice field.
02:31Today I got to grab him for a few minutes.
02:33I want you guys to hear this conversation.
02:35He's always one of the more entertaining players on the team to catch up with and talk to.
02:39And I wanted to ask him what it's like being out there the first couple days
02:44with a new offense that they're trying to learn.
02:46It's been good.
02:47I mean, you know, there's nuances to everything.
02:50But I really like how Coach Blah has been able to incorporate this offense.
02:55He's done a really good job of simplifying it.
02:58It's a traditional style NFL offense.
03:00A lot of guys have been into, you know, over the past two years it hasn't been like that.
03:04But I'm looking forward to it.
03:06It looks really good.
03:07So, as an offensive lineman, just getting back to that traditional look under center,
03:12some runs, how do you think that's going to help you guys?
03:14Or just what kind of pride might you take in doing it?
03:17I love it.

03:18Being able to go in the huddle.
03:19There's so much information I grasp from just being in the huddle,
03:22looking at the defense, what personnel they're in.
03:24Just can help with the calls immediately and just going faster on the line.
03:29So, you know, it's been good.
03:31And being under center, too.
03:33I mean, running the ball, doing that, play action.
03:36I love it.
03:37So, on the radio, we end up talking a lot about these buzz things like under center versus gun and
03:41whatever.
03:41As a lineman with, like, leverage and angles and all that stuff,
03:45what changes most for you when you are under center or you're marrying play action a little better?
03:50Or is it tangibly noticeable for you?
03:52Yeah.
03:52So, the handoff is different.
03:54So, where the back's track is, setting up blocks.
03:59So, like, when we're in combinations, being able to just get off and not have to wait for the run
04:05to develop
04:05and basically developing our combinations, typically what happens in gun,
04:11when we're under center, it's more fast, more handoff go.
04:14So, you can get in those combos and just fire off the ball even, you know, faster.
04:19So, like, that's, like, a little nuance, not nuance, but differences between the two
04:24when people are, like, under center versus gun.
04:26Right.
04:26Obviously, gun has its positive aspects, too.
04:29So, like, you know, being balanced is huge.
04:34I always enjoy, I see you out at some Caps games and kind of around town.
04:37You're heavily involved in the community.
04:39What was the offseason like for you in terms of a difference?
04:42I feel like in the past you're just trying to rehab and get back to being Sam Cosme
04:45and maybe this year you're able to, like, add to the portfolio, if you will.
04:48Is that fair?
04:49Yeah, no.
04:50Like I said yesterday, I put a lot of time and effort into my body this offseason.
04:56Spent a lot of time with, like, the kids and the family.
04:59But I was here for the most part.
05:00Just kind of, like, last offseason, obviously not as, you know,
05:05having to be here all the time.
05:07But for the most part, it's been a good offseason for me to just sit down,
05:13evaluate, and just kind of decompress from being season to injury to season.
05:19So, yeah.
05:19Have you gotten into the Caps pretty big?
05:21I feel like I've seen you out there a good bit.
05:22I love hockey.
05:23I love how, like –
05:24Was that always the case or –?
05:25No.
05:25I mean, when I got here, we don't really have hockey in Texas.
05:28So, like, I love it.
05:30I love the physicality and, like, how they are aggressive.
05:33I love the flow of the game, the amount of rotations they have throughout the game.
05:38You know, it's just, like, it's always moving, you know.
05:41And, I don't know.
05:43Like I said, there's not – I like physical sports in general.
05:47So, as you can tell.

05:49So, yeah, I think it's impressive what they're able to do on ice and skates
05:53and seeing my, you know, big ass try to do that.
05:56I couldn't really imagine.
05:57So, a couple moments left with Sam Cosme of the Commanders.
06:00At center, you're going with Allegretti.
06:02I know he's banged up and Julian Good-Jones is out there.
06:04Yeah.
06:04How does that change things for you?
06:06One of the things DQ talked about yesterday is he feels like Nick,
06:09among all the centers he's been around, is, like,
06:11just really smart about checks and all these things.
06:13Do you feel that?
06:15Yeah.
06:15You know, Nick's this really smart guy.
06:17I know probably a lot of people don't know about Julian,
06:20but Julian's really smart too.
06:22He's strong.
06:22He's worked a ton this offseason.
06:24He's worked his butt off to quitting the position he is to be competing right now.
06:28So, you know, with Julian, it's good to get those reps in just in case, you know.
06:34He's been the communication in that type of standpoint has been on point.
06:39So, we're always working on things, always working on that chemistry.
06:43But for the most part, it's been good being able to work with both guys.
06:46And then last one, you and Connerley year two together.
06:48Yeah.
06:49What's the biggest difference, do you think, between him now and maybe a year ago?
06:52I mean, his confidence, his ability.
06:55He just has – he just feels like his feet are more in the ground,
06:58if that makes sense.
07:00So, I mean, it's nice being able to get a training camp with him
07:03to build that chemistry because we got thrown in the fire together
07:06and trying to figure out during the season.
07:08First time playing with him is in a game?
07:10In a game.
07:10So, you know, it was new for both of us.
07:13But, you know, I think we did a really good job last year of trying to –
07:16he got better throughout the season.
07:18And then I think this year is going to be a big leap for him.

07:23Yeah, no problem.
07:24Sam Cosme has almost become underrated at this point because of, you know,
07:29the talent but also the injury a year ago.
07:31We forget a little bit, came back, started to ramp it up
07:34and really got back to his old ways at the end of the season.
07:36But he'll be super important up front in protecting Jaden Daniels.
07:39And I like the insight.
07:40We started the show.
07:41One of the big stories here at training camp is the calf injury of Nick Allegretti.
07:46They don't think it's going to be serious.
07:48But because of the perceived lack of depth,
07:50that's obviously going to draw the ire of the fan base.
07:53Seems like he is, and even talking to him after the conversation
07:56for another couple of minutes,
07:57he thinks they're in good hands with Julian Good-Jones,
07:59who he called one of the hardest-working players on the team.
08:01Yeah, and you certainly hope so.
08:02If something happens during the season and he has to step in,
08:05you hope that they can feel confident because the team that you're chasing,
08:09or at least I would perceive that you're chasing,
08:11and the Eagles, you mentioned the Cowboys as maybe being there.
08:14Even the Cowboys have Quinn and Williams.
08:16The Eagles have Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.
08:18So you're going to need the interior of that O-line to be stout,
08:21and especially helping out Jaden Daniels.
08:23You don't want him to feel any pressure.
08:25You feel good about your tackles.
08:26Well, I guess you feel good about Tunsil.
08:28We'll see about Connerly.
08:29But I like what they've got there.
08:30The interior is still a little bit of a question,
08:32although I like their left guard.
08:34Cosme, if he gets back to his level, it just becomes center.
08:36But if those guys can kind of help out,
08:38maybe you feel a little bit better,
08:39even if Nick Allegretti does have to miss time,
08:41that Cosme and either Chris Paul or Brandon Coleman
08:43can step up and help those guys out.
08:45Yeah, we've heard from the general manager, Adam Peters,
08:47and head coach, Dan Quinn,
08:48that this offense is going to be more quarterback friendly.
08:51I also think this offense is a lot more offensive line friendly in some ways.
