00:10Its draft local plan identifies the One Stop shopping centre as a major opportunity for
00:17phased redevelopment in the coming years. The council says One Stop remains an important
00:23local shopping destination, but describes the complex as inward facing.
00:28It argues the buildings create a barrier between new housing, transport connections,
00:34green corridors and other parts of Perry Bar, which redevelopment could help reconnect.
00:40The proposals cover the shopping centre and land around Regina Drive.
00:45The council argues redevelopment could create a more sustainable centre containing retail,
00:51commercial and leisure space, alongside community facilities and services.
00:55But it must be stressed, no detailed planning application or delivery timetable has been
01:01announced. The wider plan supports significant housing growth,
01:06with Perry Bar Village expected to provide around 2,000 homes.
01:10It also seeks a sustainable future for Alexander Stadium, while strengthening walking and cycling
01:16routes, improving public access and encouraging activity in and around Perry Park.
