00:00Past President Abdul Hadi Awang says Perikatan Nasional deliberately allowed UMNO to take the lead in the Johor election to
00:07avoid splitting the anti-Pakatan Harapan vote.
00:09Speaking at a ceramah in Seremban, Hadi said PN adopted the strategy after assessing Johor's political landscape and PH's line
00:17-up of prominent candidates.
00:19According to Hadi, PN was concerned that Johor could fall to PH and that UMNO might lose control of the
00:25state government.
00:26He described the move as a necessary step to save Johor.
00:29Turning to Negeri Sembilan, Hadi acknowledged that the political situation there was more challenging than in Johor.
00:35He said he previously saw an opportunity to change the state government through a vote of confidence.
00:40But the plan collapsed after two Bersatu Assemblymen withdrew.
00:44The plan would have involved 14 UMNO Assemblymen joining forces with 5 from PN, 3 from PAS and 2 from
00:50Bersatu.
00:51BN is contesting 25 seats under an electoral understanding with the passlet BN which is contesting the remaining 11 seats
00:58while Bersatu is building candidates separately in 24 seats under its own logo.
