SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS. — El dirigente estudiantil y comunitario Ángel Luis Reyes fue arrestado por agentes de la Policía Nacional y la Dirección Central de Inteligencia (DINTEL).  Al momento de ser trasladado a las instalaciones policiales, Ángel Luis Reyes afirmó que su arresto responde a presiones y persecuciones de carácter político debido a su labor de protesta.  "Esto viene de parte política. Lo único que hago aquí es defender los derechos de los estudiantes. Si por defender los derechos de los estudiantes me quieren enviar a la prisión, estoy a la disposición", manifestó el activista.  Reyes aclaró que se le pretende vincular con un incidente violento en el que resultó herido un agente de la DIGESETT durante un huelga, hecho del cual se desvincula por completo.  Por su parte, su padre, el reconocido dirigente comunitario Ángel Reyes (conocido como "Camarada"), calificó la detención como un acto de intimidación orquestado desde la administración municipal encabezada por el alcalde Alex Díaz.  Según explicó Reyes (padre), el apresamiento se produce en el marco de las demandas comunitarias exigiendo señalización e iluminación de las vías públicas.  Regulación y control de los camiones recolectores de basura y carritos de transporte, los cuales —según denunció— transitan sin la iluminación adecuada provocando múltiples accidentes fatales en la zona.  El dirigente enfatizó que por la presunta agresión al agente de tránsito ya se habían apresado a unas cinco personas anteriormente, las cuales fueron puestas en libertad al no encontrarse pruebas en su contra.  "El apresamiento de Ángel Luis es una línea política. Queremos establecer que esta acción no va a frenar la lucha por mejores condiciones de vida en San Francisco de Macorís. A partir de ahora, las movilizaciones se van a intensificar en todos los barrios", advirtió "Camarada".
