00:01The Cabinet has declassified the Royal Commission of Inquiry report into Tabung Haji, covering
00:07the period from 2014 to 2020, with plans to table it for debate at a special sitting of
00:13the Dewan Rakyat.
00:15Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fazil says the Cabinet was briefed by Tabung
00:19Haji's top management and reviewed the RCI's findings before making the decision.
00:24The report contains 25 recommendations for improvement, of which Tabung Haji's management
00:29has already carried out 75%, according to Fahmi.
00:33The Cabinet also noted Tabung Haji declared a 3.5% profit distribution for the 2025 financial
00:40year, a sign the fund's management is now on stronger footing.
00:44Fahmi says a full investigation by relevant enforcement agencies will now proceed based
00:49on the report's findings, with anyone found to have broken the law to be brought to justice.
00:54The RCI was established in July 2021 to probe an estimated RM11 billion financial deficit
01:01between assets and liabilities, allegations of mismanaged or disposed strategic assets,
01:06and potential breaches of the law governing depositors' funds.
01:10The inquiry completed its final report a year later and was kept confidential by the government
01:15to stabilise depositor confidence.
