02:01The Act requires providers and deployers of AI systems to inform users when they are interacting with an AI, such
02:08as a chatbot or when they are exposed to deepfakes and AI-generated videos.
02:13Texts aiming to inform the public on general interest issues will also have to be labeled if it was written
02:19by AI without human editorial oversight.
02:22The goal is to allow users to immediately know whether the content is real or fake, to avoid misinformation, fraud,
02:30and to make AI more transparent and trustworthy.
02:32Concretely, AI providers will have to add machine-readable marks, such as watermarks, to ensure the detection of manipulated content.
02:42The rules only target content created for professional reasons, not individuals using AI for personal use.
02:49AI systems have until the 2nd of December to adapt to the new rules.
02:53There are exemptions for artistic, creative, satirical, and fictional work.
02:58Some tech giants such as TikTok and Meta have already started labeling AI-generated content in anticipation of the new
