01:49doom and tony stark like is there a through line between these guys i i mean there's the the science
01:56thing and then they're considered you know pretty uh brilliant guys um but tony had the the trauma that
02:04kind of turned him into a hero and and doom's got the exact opposite to where it takes the prowess

02:12all of these folks to go up against him and it was uh it was a joy to behold it
02:18was really weird being
02:19on the other side of a bad guy mask because it's just such a isolated vibe and i'm seeing them

02:26socializing and stuff and i'm i'm the enemy well that's right well i was going to ask because you
02:31guys you've shared so many of these films together and had i would assume a very different working
02:35dynamic on this than those you know i was saying earlier it was almost like going back to 2011 on
02:42the first avengers because at the beginning of that you know you're you're kind of the new kid on the
02:46block and you're excited to even be there and i would find myself during that movie uh watching you
02:51know you're in the scene but then you're just like you know robert downey jr's playing tony stark
02:56and oh fuck i have a line um and on this one i felt that a little bit again just

03:01you do this thing that i couldn't wait to see i was like all right let's let's see you know
03:08and just
03:09kind of being uh a fan does it does the film through the characters do you all acknowledge that
03:15he looks like tony stark like does that add emotional stakes to the action here that you're
03:21can't touch that oh okay that's can't touch this uh please you can continue singing no uh okay
03:27understood all right got it uh so the answer is yes um no um okay um pedro for you doom

03:37from the footage that we got to see today doom is from the fantastic four universe sue talks about him
03:42they knew him she thought she could help him so do the fantastic four feel a like a personal
03:47responsibility in any way for him being kind of unleashed on the world

03:58but you had to think about it
03:59i did have to think about it and the answer is no
04:04think about it because you don't want a sniper to take you out or really there's

04:09intellectuals understand that we're all responsible for ourselves

04:27reed at least um is very singular to um to to to the relationship that i have to doom and

04:39there is a big barrier between the context that we all have as audience members to the experience of
04:45avengers and the incredible way that all of it is threaded together as we have x-men sitting with us
04:52um within this group but it's very easy for me to be very kind of like single focused um through
05:01the
05:01through the perspective of the character as it relates to somebody like victor von doom
05:08i just want to remind i just want to remind you to look into the camera as you're answering these

05:30the footage um there's kind of a montage of the avengers with their kids um are we safe in making
05:38an assumption that those kids are being highlighted because they might be a target in any way
05:46you can't touch that question either can we i mean i'm kind of the hardest job of all i was

06:01that's what this is but probably uh doom wants to doom wants to go after people where it hurts most
06:09is that an okay way of putting it you want to he wants to get their attention in a in

06:16stakes way oh man we should we talk about the odyssey we can actually i haven't seen it who has
06:26seen don't say anything yet no oh you don't know how it ends oh just tell them you're doing something
06:31really different he's really nice yeah that'll work that'll work okay rebecca yeah yes um a lot has
06:39changed over the years with superhero makeup and and what can be done to transfer uh or transform
06:45someone um in the way that you do specifically for mystique how different was it for you this time
06:52uh apparently they were no longer interested in waiting for actors to be processed so it was much
06:59faster okay yes okay that said the original transformation that i went through for those
07:04first three x-men movies was really imperative to that character for me it really put me in just
07:10the right head space to play somebody as angry as mystique that makes a lot of sense yeah um i
07:18it seems
07:19like from what we've seen in the trailer there are some echoes of your classic uh mystique wolverine fight
07:24sequence uh from the original x-men in your doomsday fight sequence with with uh florence pew how how do
07:31they
07:31compare those fights uh well ones with yelena and ones with wolverine yeah so that's but in terms of scale
07:40in terms of you know because we were with a different we were with fox and these these are now
07:44right a
07:45different studio so um actually mystique had a slightly different uh fight style back then uh than now
07:53but i mean just as fierce um just uh you know it was really fun working with lawrence and um
08:00i mean i
08:01think it's the secrets that went south right it's in the trailer i think we can say that it was
08:06a big
08:06moment and you and and kelsey being back i have to say we just nerded out and i think it
08:12lit up this
08:14constellation of like excitement and like this couldn't have been easy to pull off the story encompasses it
08:19and again having seen everything that i won't talk to you about it's it's just incredible incredible

08:32the the original i don't want to lose a finger no of course of course i don't want you to
08:36either uh
08:36but the original x-men really paved the way for modern superhero movies so uh what what is different
08:42about superhero movies now from when you helped launch them boy i wish i could really answer that
08:50question i i really enjoyed being an x-man i really enjoyed being beast i love the character i i

08:57him i i have this sense of this kind of nobility about him that he carries himself with a deep
09:04respect
09:05for all life so that i think translates into the superhero universe i mean honestly i think that's what
09:12we're all here for and uh it's extraordinary that the these characters have taken on a role in our
09:18society that actually reflects the same thing as it's just this goodwill the hope that actually there
09:24is goodness in all of us and and that good still triumphs that's yeah pretty great well you recently got
09:32to reprise your perhaps most iconic role fraser did you ever think a day would come that this would circle
09:38back in your life i did not know but uh it did break my heart 22 years ago sure and
09:44i you know
09:45whatever my heart i still wear it on my sleeve the public requires you there you go great like that
09:51thank you yeah let's teach a huge news with uh david johnson joining mcu as black panther in the
09:59third movie a lot of people excited about that um we'd love to hear your reaction to his casting as
10:04do we call him t'challa jr what can we call him here um prince t'challa exactly yeah and
10:10and what
10:10will that relationship be like with shuri oh firstly the news was really beautiful to hear um because i
10:17have a personal connection to to david um and just a special special person um good heart and just to
10:28see
10:28the full circle of that today i'm still living in it you know and we're both still like checking in
10:36with each other about it but in terms of what shuri means to him you know shuri has gone through
10:44so
10:44much you know and in this film doomsday we see her growth we see her you know fully in this
10:50position
10:52um as as black panther but also like just just a just a renewed woman you know and and powerful
11:00and and strong and that leadership quality that she's she's grown up around you know with ramonda
11:07her mother t'challa her brother um she now has that that mantle to pass on and those guidance and
11:15and that that wisdom to pass on so it's it's beautiful to see the arc of this character 2018
11:21starting as this beautiful scientist in the lab just trying to help her big brother out
11:25to just elevating and growing and now being like a source of wisdom for you know for for her young
11:34net her young nephew is is beautiful um see i'm gonna have a really a really good time a lot
11:41of fun
11:42and i'm gonna pick on him so much did you guys know the news of david before today or did
11:47you find
11:48out pretty much very secretive on this camp yeah reaction from anyone else about david yeah bananas
11:55over it yeah i think it's amazing i think he's amazing i think he's joining an amazing amazing cast
12:05uh david and lewis now that the new avengers as you guys are called are uh you know joining forces
12:12with the old avengers is there a is there like a is there a hierarchy is there a power ranking

12:19how do they their worlds blend i mean there's trouble for sure like we definitely approach things
12:27differently uh-huh than those guys that we have different ideas about how to do things i mean
12:31clearly we are right but not everyone agrees with us uh-huh yeah no well said it's it's yeah it's
12:41definitely kind of a unexpected route to get to the same destination but it's it's extra fun

13:00for me if you think about like infinity war was this kind of race against the clock this extreme
13:05game of hot potato in game you kind of compare to a heist movie this really huge you know final

13:11then what is doomsday is there a genre we could kind of look at trap yeah no no thanks
13:20um yeah it's well is there a genre i don't know maybe but it's uh it does feel rom-com
13:30between you two it does feel unique like this was like oh this has i haven't seen this um and
13:38uh i'm excited to see the film because i i know reading it and being there and working on it

13:45like oh this this feels the enormity of it was apparent and um and it felt just very fresh and
13:53and uh a little bit like kind of what chris was saying it's like oh wow this i i feel
13:58like it's my
13:59first day of school and um look at all of these people and when i would watch scenes and things
14:06were going on it's like wow i haven't seen this before and this is really cool to be here so
14:09um
14:10what genre that is i don't really know but it's it's it's a good one yeah yeah um you guys
14:16have
14:16i guess of them all of you the most movies together of course you two several but when you started
14:23on
14:23this journey did you feel did you go into it feeling like there might be like an expiration date
14:28for when you would want to be done or was it kind of open-ended for you we'll see what
14:34comes
14:36evans that's got to go to you you didn't even want to do it to begin with um
14:43um you know i i don't know about an expiration date but i certainly when we finished endgame in 2018
14:49lou and kevin took me to dinner and they were like we'd love to keep doing movies with steve rogers

14:54nomad and i said okay well what do you got and they they showed me a pitch and it was
14:58a great pitch
14:58um but for whatever reason it just didn't feel right at the time i kind of wanted to i was

15:04little precious i wanted to preserve it but i just said please keep pitching um and over the course of
15:09you know eight years i probably heard at least a dozen pitches and and um they were all wonderful
15:15it just never quite felt right and and you do start thinking maybe this maybe this the expert
15:20whatever it is maybe it's it's not right because it's just not right and then i got a
15:24phone call from my team saying there's a rumor down he's talking to marvel and i was like oh
15:29what does this mean and and uh all of a sudden it felt right you know joe gave me the
15:35pitch and down
15:36he was bay and it's just all of a sudden it was like this is this is it so i
15:40guess it's a never say
15:41never but but um you know certainly not willing to just jump back in for anything because i think
15:46everyone here is precious with their their role in the universe and you know this this stuff
15:52yeah um it's it's it's earned its position over a long period of time you don't want to mess with
15:57that yeah protective of the characters yeah what they're yeah going to go through um by the way your
16:02uh co-star from uh the gray man ryan gosling joining the mcu uh yeah ghost rider what i mean

16:10do you guys think on that one that's exciting yeah so good is there is there a world where
16:18he would be part of you i don't know is there a world where there could ever be a crossover

16:22know i want him and spider noir with nick to come back in and be a motorcycle with sidecar that's

16:49of like how endgame was to infinity wars is it going to be that kind of thing they always want

16:56one to the next and you're so right like right infinity war was a uh was a chase film and

17:05heist and trust that uh we're not doing any we're not into repeater uh status but um i think you
