Microsoft has just unveiled MAI-Cyber-1-Flash — its first AI model purpose-built to detect and fix software vulnerabilities before attackers can exploit them. Integrated with MDASH, an advanced scanning system, Microsoft claims it outperforms rival models from Google and OpenAI on top industry benchmarks.
The tech giant also launched Project Perception, an agentic security platform where specialized AI agents run simulated attacks and rapidly patch bugs — giving enterprise defenders the speed and scale needed to fight back against AI-powered cyberattacks.
While these tools promise huge efficiency gains and cost savings, security experts are urging a cautious approach following recent incidents tied to autonomous AI systems.
Both MAI-Cyber-1-Flash and Project Perception are expected to roll out in preview later this year.
