00:00Some of the worst damage we have seen with the Appleton tornado is near the
00:04city of Wenasha. This is the water filtration plant here and you can see
00:08extensive damage. This is a very wide tornado wider than a mile at the very
00:14least. It had a very large wind field moving from northwest to southeast right
00:18down the shore of Lake Winnebago here the western shore. Extensive damage all
00:22the way down to the Neenah area and the tornado first touchdown just to the
00:26north of Highway 441 up in Appleton. That's where we intercepted this wedge
00:30tornado and then it moved off to the south southeast but just extensive
00:34damage through a very urban area. You can see a lot of damage to these brick
00:38buildings as well. Suggestive of at least a strong tornado likely EF3 maybe
00:43greater but the National Weather Service has to come out and survey this
00:47tornado. It happened very early in the day during noon just before noon it
00:52touched down and I definitely had a green clear sod around it a very green
00:55storm likely because of the sun angle but this was surging off to the southeast. We
01:00felt extensive inflow into this surface-based supercell as it came into
01:04Appleton and so we knew that this storm definitely had tornado potential but not
01:08the likes of this. The extensive damage out here from the Appleton area down
01:14through Neenah, Wisconsin moving right along the western shore of Lake
01:18Quinebago.
