00:00So Finn, tell us about the incident itself.
00:05Sure thing. So I'm here on the cross junction between Cornwallis Avenue and Woodlands Road.
00:11This is the best one store here in Twiddle. And just above it, you can see here behind me some
00:16of those windows. A one-year-old baby fell out of one of those windows, a distance of about 14
00:22feet
00:22before hitting the ground. That baby is now in a London hospital receiving what has been described
00:28as life-threatening injuries. They're receiving treatment for those injuries. CCTV was later
00:34seen by some of our colleagues over at Kent Online that showed the moment where the young child fell
00:40hitting the pavement. There were even two drivers here at these traffic lights just behind me
00:46who actually got up out of their cars to make sure that everything was okay. The CCTV later showed
00:51one man actually cradling the child in his arms. An air ambulance was then later sent right here
00:58to the scene. It flew the baby to a major trauma centre in London, as I mentioned. And a police
01:04investigation has now opened into exactly the circumstances of what happened. And from reports
01:10we've been hearing on the ground, detectives are out. They're knocking on doors trying to get more
01:14information as to exactly the circumstances of this incident. And what do we know about the
01:20incident so far? What have police said has been going on? Well, a spokesman for Kent Police said
01:28they took a call from South East Coast Ambulance Service. That was around 10 past six on Sunday
01:34evening. That was to notify officers that paramedics were treating a one-year-old boy who was reported to
01:39have fallen from a window of a property. Officers attended and the child was taken to a London hospital
01:45with life-threatening injuries. They had at the end that inquiries are still ongoing. And talk to us
01:51a bit about the atmosphere down there. I can imagine it's quite shocking for the local community.
01:58Absolutely, Nayla. I think for people who don't know this part of Gillingham, the area of Twiddle,
02:03it's quite quiet aside from a lot of traffic at this junction here. Lots of houses. Only just up the
02:09road there is a playground where there's plenty of children playing in the sun. For them,
02:14and there's also a school just opposite as well. For anyone who might have been passing by or heard
02:19of what's happened, this would be extremely shocking. As you can see, there's lots of traffic
02:24going by as well. And as I mentioned earlier, there were two drivers who helped when they saw what
02:30happened to this baby. So yeah, I think extremely shocking and impactful incident that's happened in
02:36what is a very quiet and small, close-knit community. Everyone here will know this best one
02:42shock because there aren't many around this area. So I think this is definitely something that will
02:47have impacted the local community massively. Well, thank you, Finn. We'll be giving updates as they come.
