00:10Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described the opportunity as an honour,
00:15saying the event reflects the strong friendship, mutual trust and close partnership between Malaysia and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
00:21He said the race is more than just a world-class sporting event,
00:25as it also reaffirms Malaysia's readiness and capability to host major international events.
00:31Anwar said he had spoken with Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister,
00:35His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa,
00:38as well as Formula One President and Chief Executive Officer Stefano Domenicali.
00:42He also expressed his appreciation to the Bahraini government
00:45and people for their trust and confidence in Malaysia.
00:49Formula One earlier announced that Sepang will host the Bahrain Grand Prix from October 2nd to 4th.
00:54while the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, or FIA,
00:58also confirmed Malaysia's inclusion on the 2026 Formula One calendar as the host venue for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
01:05Anwar said Malaysia is ready to welcome Formula One, the FIA, participating teams and fans from around the world back
01:12to Sepang.
01:13Sepang last hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2017,
01:16before it was dropped from the Formula One calendar due to rising hosting and licensing costs.
01:21Malaysia was selected as the host venue after the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
01:26were postponed because of the conflict in West Asia,
01:29with Formula One exploring alternative locations to ensure the race could proceed this season.
