Visit to Irkutsk factory highlighted progress on Russian commercial aircraft and the modernisation of a military plane presented as capable of countering larger drones
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the aircraft factory in Irkutsk, Siberia, where he inspected the production line of the MS-21 commercial jet and was shown the Yak-130M, an upgraded version of the military trainer developed by the Russian aerospace industry.
The visit comes at a time of growing pressure on the country's strategic sectors. In recent months, Ukraine has stepped up its use of long-range drones against refineries, ports, industrial facilities, logistics hubs and other structures located on Russian territory.
