00:45The United States is stepping up its campaign against Iran,
00:48and President Trump says the worst may be yet to come.
00:51U.S. Central Command says it hit dozens of targets overnight, including missile and drone sites,
00:56along with coastal defense systems, as the U.S. and Iran continue to clash over control of the Strait of
01:03Hormuz.
01:03President Trump said Tuesday it will get, quote, really bad next week if Iran does not agree to a deal,
01:10warning that bridges and power plants could be the next targets.
01:13Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan also report fending off retaliatory Iranian attacks overnight.
01:20The Treasury Department, meanwhile, says it has frozen more than $130 million in digital assets controlled by Iran's central bank.
01:29Trump has also backed away from his proposed 20 percent fee on cargo moving through the Strait of Hormuz,
01:36saying Gulf states could avoid the charge through trade deals with the United States.
01:41Iran, however, says it has not ruled out imposing its own tolls
01:45and continues to warn ships against using the waterway without its permission.
01:49After two deadly ICE-involved shootings in just one week, the agency is now changing how it carries out arrests.
01:57The Department of Homeland Security says ICE is temporarily suspending routine vehicle stops during immigration operations.
02:05The change has come just days after ICE officers shot and killed a man during an operation in Maine.
02:10The second deadly agent involves shooting in a week.
02:13An internal email to senior officials instructs agents to use other enforcement methods instead,
02:20limiting traffic stops to cases involving the most dangerous targets.
02:23One source told ABC News that in most cases, agents will wait until a target leaves a home or workplace
02:30before making an arrest.
02:32In the meantime, ICE officers will receive additional training on vehicle stops.
02:36The Department also says every ICE arrest team will now include at least one officer equipped with a body camera.
02:42Neither of the two recent shootings involved agents wearing body cameras.
02:47The announcement comes as Florida Highway Patrol investigates the death of a man who was struck and killed Tuesday
02:53by a tractor-trailer after running from ICE agents during an operation in St. Augustine.
02:58The circumstances leading up to that encounter remain under investigation.
03:02Out west, one person is dead and three others missing after a boat, a cabin cruiser carrying about 20 people,
03:09capsized and sank near Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay.
03:14The emergency call came in just after 3.30 Tuesday afternoon with the boat about 600 yards from Alcatraz.
03:20By the time rescue crews arrived, the vessel was almost completely underwater with some passengers clinging to the outside
03:28and others trapped inside, banging on submerged windows as the water closed in.
03:33It was complete chaos when we showed up.
03:35People were hanging on to the side of the boat and when we had drove past the boat,
03:41I could see people that were below the water line inside the boat where the windows were covered by water
03:47and they were banging on the windows trying to break them, but they couldn't get up.
03:50It was a wild scene, like, to pull up to that.
03:54Rescuers pulled 16 people from the water.
03:56Three of the injured went to the hospital and were expected to be released last night.
04:00Those rescuers also brought a severely injured man to shore and performed CPR, but sadly he was dead.
04:07Fire Chief Dean Crispin says most of the passengers appear to have been family members taking part in a memorial
04:13service.
04:14The emergency was initially reported as a boat fire, but officials say they have found no evidence of one.
04:20The Coast Guard and local authorities are continuing to search for the three missing people using divers, helicopters and boats.
04:27In Washington later this morning, President Trump's pick to lead the Justice Department faces what could be his toughest test
04:35yet,
04:35as Todd Blanche begins a two-day confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill.
04:40The former Trump defense attorney has been serving as acting attorney general since April,
04:44but his path to the job permanently is not a sure thing.
04:48Trump on Tuesday urged every Republican senator to back Blanche,
04:52writing on Truth Social that Blanche, quote, stood by my side.
04:56He is a great lawyer, always very fair.
04:59But Democrats argue Blanche has been serving Trump, not the American people.
05:03In a statement, Senate Judiciary Committee member Sheldon Whitehouse said, quote,
05:08he is a walking disgrace.
05:10Trump intends to damage the rule of law to protect his massive corruption,
05:14and Blanche is his hatchet man.
05:16Blanche is also expected to face questions about his handling of the Epstein files
05:21and his role in a scrapped $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund.
05:26That fund is also one of the issues giving some Republicans pause.
05:30Senators John Cornyn and Tom Tillis have yet to commit their support.
05:34While a federal judge this week sharply criticized Blanche's role in the agreement
05:38that created the now-abandoned fund.
05:40And the politics have become even trickier following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham.
05:45With Democrats expected to oppose the nomination,
05:48Judiciary Committee Republicans can't afford to lose just one vote to advance Blanche,
05:53making every GOP holdout critical.
05:56If Blanche clears the committee,
05:58Republicans hope to hold a full Senate vote before the August recess.
06:02If you're tired of changing your clocks twice a year,
06:06you know when most of us fall back in early November,
06:08then spring forward in March,
06:11Congress has another plan to make it stop.
06:13On Tuesday, the House passed the Sunshine Protection Act,
06:17which would make daylight saving time permanent nationwide.
06:21The bill passed with bipartisan support, 308 to 117.
06:25After the vote, the lawmaker presiding over the House,
06:28Congressman Scott Desjardins of Tennessee,
06:31played the Beatles' Here Comes the Sun from his phone.
06:35President Trump has been pushing Congress to pass the bill,
06:38saying on Truth Social in May,
06:40quote, it's time that people can stop worrying about the clock,
06:43not to mention all of the work and money that is spent
06:46on this ridiculous twice-yearly production.
06:49The measure now moves to the Senate,
06:50where a similar bill passed in 2022,
06:53but stalled last year after Senator Tom Cotton
06:56blocked it over concerns about darker winter mornings.

07:05fetched some really big bucks at auction.

07:15for the bones of the Tyrannosaurus rex
07:18at a Sotheby's auction on Tuesday.
07:20Look at that.
07:21The fossil is roughly 67 million years old.
07:25The adult dinosaur specimen measures 12 1ā2 feet tall
07:29and 38 feet long.
07:30It's about 60% preserved when it comes to its parts,
07:34such as its skull, huge jaw, and powerful teeth.
07:38Diggers discovered it in 2021
07:40on land owned by a man in South Dakota.
07:43The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology
07:46is pleading with the winning bidder
07:48to donate the T-Rex fossil
07:50to an accredited natural history museum
07:52for all to see and to be further studied
