00:01It's a little bit darker in certain ways. There's a bit more tension, there's a bit more angst.
00:06They're struggling with things and they're having to have quite grown-up conversations about them at times.
00:15Sexually as well, it's a little bit more, it takes a slight step in the direction that we've been going
00:21throughout the seasons.
00:22I think it's a welcomed change. I think the fact that we've gone into a film means that we can
00:27sort of be a little bit more grown-up
00:29and a little bit more cinematic in that way.
00:31I think we see Charlie in his most fully formed and grown-up.
00:35He's very much way more confident in himself than he was in season one.
00:39He feels like a very different person in a lot of ways.
00:43Still the same person, but his outlook on the world has changed in a real positive way,
00:47which means that he can be there for Nick in ways that Nick was there for him in the first
00:51few seasons.
00:52For me, it felt like Nick, through the process of Heartstopper, has been going through this experience of
00:58trying to make sense of who he is and how to be himself and be comfortable with himself.
01:04I think his answer to that was always Charlie.
01:08You know, I think in reality, you can't put all of that pressure and all that reliance on to one
01:15person,
01:16particularly not a 18-year-old, 17-year-old, 18-year-old boy.
01:20I think it was an important thing to talk about, of finding, trying to make sense of that stuff on
01:27his own as well.
01:28This show, I often describe it as our version of university, because none of us went to university because we
01:33were doing this show.
01:34And it feels like we also became adults during that time and learnt about ourselves and what we want,
01:41and at the same time the characters did.
