00:0092.3 The Fan, breaking news.
00:03I got something from Sham Sharanya.
00:06LeBron James signing with the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8 million deal with a player option.
00:11Clutch Sports group and Clutch CEO and Game Over show, Rich Paul tells ESPN.
00:16Whoa!
00:17Wow!
00:18The Philadelphia 76ers.
00:21Holy mackerel.
00:24I tried to, like, double, triple, quadruple check this to make sure I got it right, but this is Sham
00:28Sharanya.
00:30LeBron James going to the 76ers.
00:32Wow.
00:33And we have a series of posts on X from LeBron James.
00:42At King James on X, I double-checked this to make sure this is authentic as well.
00:47I thought I was done when the season ended.
00:50I wasn't ready to announce it, and I knew I needed some time to really decide, but I was pretty
00:56sure I played my last game.
00:58I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and decide if
01:03I still love this game.
01:04I still truly love this game, and I have more to give.
01:08The last few weeks, I have really been special.
01:12I've never been able to have a clue what to do and take real time to just think.
01:17I've had an incredible few months with all the people I love trying to figure it all out.
01:23This is my last decision.
01:25I'm not going for money.
01:26I'm not going for family.
01:29What I am really playing for at this point, I still want to sacrifice.
01:34I still want to work.
01:35I still want to grind.
01:36I still want to compete to win and have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship.
01:41I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team, and I am so excited to energize a
01:48new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time.
01:50Thank you, L.A.
01:51Miami I'll forever love, and Northeast Ohio will always be home.
01:55That from LeBron James.
01:57A long series of posts on X explaining his decision.
02:03Again, LeBron James is headed to the Philadelphia 76ers.
02:09The Jalen Brown trade.
02:11I remember after that trade, I kept saying to people, Philadelphia is a dark horse to sign LeBron.
02:19Don't sleep on the 76ers.
02:23The Cavaliers, who had been sitting around waiting to see if LeBron would come home a second time and finish
02:31where it all began, and he won a championship the second time around, would he do a third tour here
02:37in Cleveland?
02:38No.
02:39And he said in this statement, this is it for him.
02:42This is his last stop.
02:44He said, this is my last decision.
02:48That's from LeBron James on X.
02:51So he is headed to the Philadelphia 76ers.
02:54Now the Cavaliers.
02:55What do they do?
02:57James Harden now has been sitting around waiting to sign.
02:59I guess he's just going to go ahead and sign his contract.
03:02Really, the only thing when you look at the Cavaliers that has gone their way this offseason is they got
03:08Donovan Mitchell to sign that extension and take 30% of the cap this year versus waiting for 35%
03:15of the cap next year.
03:16LeBron James, though, not coming back to the Cavaliers.
03:20He's going to Philadelphia to join the 76ers.
03:25All right.
03:26So the first thing that I take away from this is the fact that, A, this was not a predetermined
03:29move that he was making.
03:31This was not something because we had initially thought that, oh, he knew the whole time what he was going
03:35to do and all that stuff.
03:36That's not the case because if he knew what he was going to do, the 76ers would have never been
03:41on the board because they still would have had Paul George at that point and had not made the move
03:44for Jalen Brown when he left the Lakers.
03:46So that tells us that this was a legitimate process that he went through to figure out where he was
03:51going to play.
03:51I wanted to make sure I got that out first.
03:53The second thing on the Cavs side of this, Daryl, is if I'm the Cavs, I'm immediately pivoting and going
03:58to Jonathan Kaminga and going, what is it going to take to get you to come to this team?
04:02Because you need someone who is between 6'6 and 6'10 and can guard multiple positions and find their
04:07own shot off the ball.
04:08Jonathan Kaminga, while not perfect and has his flaws of his own, fits that mold for you.
04:15Wow.
04:16The second thing that I would do, if I am them, I would immediately go to Kaminga.
04:21If that doesn't do it, then you're scraping the bottom of the barrel and trying to find a trade somewhere
04:25else.
04:27I partially would be tempted to tell James Harden, thanks but no thanks, and use everything that you can to
04:34go get somebody else.
04:34But I just don't know who that person is because you're so late in the process.
04:39But this is the NBA.
04:41So, for all we know, there could be all sorts of guys available that we never would have thought in
04:45our entire lives.
04:45Hell, Luka Doncic got traded for a bag of balls and Anthony Davis.
04:50It is a two-year, $8 million contract that includes a player option.
04:57Wow.
04:58Your reaction, LeBron James is not coming home for a third time.
05:02He is not going, well, I mean, he could still retire a Cavalier and do the one-day contract ceremonial
05:08thing,
05:09but he is not going to play his last NBA game, I should say, as a Cavalier.
05:15He is headed to Philadelphia to join the 76ers, 216-474-0092.
05:22Again, it's a two-year, $8 million contract.
05:26Did not sign for money.
05:27We knew that that was going to be the case.
05:29He was not going to get a lot of money.
05:31He was not looking for a lot of money.
05:34That Jalen Brown trade, though, with Boston, that apparently really tipped the scales.
05:40There's been a lot of stuff out there about what was going on behind the scenes with LeBron.
05:46Maybe he was waiting for the Cavaliers to make a move.
05:49What would his demands be if he returned to the Miami Heat?
05:54Golden State was in, then they were out, then they were back in again.
05:58Then they were out again and completely out forever.
06:04And, you know, everyone's stalking the social media.
06:08And, you know, Rich Paul, you know, doing all these podcasts.
06:12I guess we can erase the whiteboard now.
06:14Oh.
06:15I guess we can erase the whiteboard here in the studio.
06:20Work really went into that.
06:22That's a shame that we've got to erase that.
06:24Again, breaking news.
06:26I'm...
06:26LeBron James headed to the Philadelphia 76ers' two-year, $8 million contract.
06:34LeBron saying on social media,
06:37this is my last decision.
06:43Again, that's straight from LeBron on social media.
06:47This is my last decision.
06:49He is headed to Philadelphia, and he's going to play for the 76ers.
06:54Now, going into this thing,
06:57Rich Paul had said on that Game Over podcast
07:00that had the Knicks not won the NBA championship,
07:04there'd be no whiteboard, there'd be no decision made,
07:06LeBron was going to go to the Knicks because he wanted to be the guy.
07:09Clearly, so here's what LeBron's going for.
07:13Here's what he's going for.
07:14I just figured it out.
07:16He's looking to go 4-for-4.
07:18And he signs a two-year deal.
07:20First year, doesn't win the championship with his new team.
07:22It's always year two or longer with his new team to win the championship, okay?
07:29He won a championship, two of them with Miami.
07:32Sorry, I had to go through it in my head.
07:33Won a championship with the Cavaliers, won a championship with the Lakers.
07:36Correct.
07:37Philadelphia 76ers, they got a little title drought going.
07:40He wants to be the guy to get the Sixers over the hump.
07:42That's what this is.
07:43He wants to be the guy to get a team over their championship drought.
07:51I think that's what this comes down to.
07:52And LeBron alluded to it in his statement that he posted on X as well.
07:57He wants to be the guy, I think, to push a team over the top.
08:04Yeah, because Philly hasn't won a title since 83.
08:06I quick looked it up because I thought it was either 82 or 83, but I remember it because
08:09it was with Julius Irving and Moses Malone and that whole group that was together then
08:13that they won the title.
08:15Interesting.
08:162-1-6, 4-7-4, double-0-92.
08:18LeBron James not coming home a third time.
08:21He's headed to Philadelphia to join the 76ers on a two-year contract.
08:26I'm Matt.
