00:09good afternoon dear viewers you're watching the business today's show i'm sakshi batra this is
00:13where i get you all the closing action on the lal street in the last 19 minutes of trade and
00:17you're looking at some recovery from the day's lowest point on the nifty but first up let's
00:22take a look at what's hot in the corporate and the financial world
00:28markets extend losses for the fifth straight session the sensex trade 350 points lower
00:32near 76 000 mark while the nifty has slipped 100 points now in trades to trade about 23 750
00:38auto stocks have led the decline today
00:44hcl tech announces a major ai infrastructure project the company will be setting up an ai data center
00:50in bhuvaneshwar with sarvam and the odisha government the planned capital outlay for
00:55the project now stands at 14 000 crore rupees
01:01hdfc bank faces fresh scrutiny in the u.s as three law firms investigate possible securities law
01:07violations the investigations relate to allegations that 45 crore rupees in payments to
01:13maharashara's msrdc were booked as marketing expenses the lender has denied any wrongdoing
01:23and pharma inches closer to the biggest ever acquisition after organon shareholders have
01:28approved the proposed merger the 9.4 billion dollar deal will now move towards completion
01:34of subject to regulatory approvals as well as other customary closing conditions
01:43india's private sector activity slips to more than four year low amid the iran related risks hsbc's flash
01:50composite pmi has declined to 54.3 in july from 57.1 in the month of june as services growth
01:58has lost the
01:59momentum despite resilient manufacturing
02:07straightaway look at how the markets are trading at this point in time viewers we still have auto
02:12realty metal stocks all of them down in the session which is the keeping the markets lower at about
02:17half odd percent but definitely we've improved on this low point look at the nifty bank that's where
02:22some green is being seen now flat with the positive buyers for the nifty bank it's the psu banks that
02:27have
02:27led the recovery in the banking names it stocks have also pulled up with hcl tech news coming in as
02:32far as the ai infrastructure investment is concerned we are looking at these two pockets that are
02:37supporting the sentiment but let's welcome our guest on board we have gorang shah senior vice president
02:41georgeet investments joining in warm welcome to you gorang good to have you with us well how are you
02:46looking at these crude pressures yet again shocking the investors hundred dollars a barrel has come in
02:52just about three to four days gorang we were looking at what 85 dollars a barrel just three
02:57to four sessions ago and we've swiftly moved up and that's the key worry thank you sakshi for having
03:03on your show good afternoon to all your viewers and to you a small disclosure all recommendations that
03:07i'll be sharing with you this afternoon on your show sakshi they are part of our fundamental research
03:12team recommendation from a long-term point of our company geojit or myself we don't have any kind of
03:17personal investments no financial interest or conflict of interest but we said similar investment
03:22ideas with our class they might have their investment interest so you remember sakshi when it was at 120
03:26dollars and people were talking about 150 200 it didn't go to 150 it went up to 120 or 125
03:34and then
03:34because of the so-called legal or mou or a resolution it came down to 70 dollars it did not
03:43take time even
03:43there so i think this time a little bit of elevated concern because of the attack on saudi vessel which
03:51was carrying crude oil in the red sea by the yemeni houthis and this is added to a little bit
03:56of more
03:56problem and worries and along with that uh depreciating rupee also creates a double-edged sword for our
04:02economy and growth so while we are struggling with this situation not only india but i think the world is
04:08struggling with the kind of statement and counter statements that are coming out from the trump
04:12administration and the iran and luji i think this will possibly have an impact but the good part
04:18is that we most of the indices uh including your sensex nifty and some bank nifty it index and some
04:27other you know sectorial index they have recovered from the delivery slow so we see buying coming at
04:32low levels at least that's a soothing part absolutely there's another breaking news coming in on your screen
04:38viewers this is with regards to flip card there are reports indicating that flip card is now uh
04:42soon to enter the online food delivery space flip card will be taking on zomato and swiggy reports are
04:48indicating that flip card now plans food delivery launch pretty soon we are also looking at this
04:53walmart-owned flip card company to enter food delivery that's what the reports are indicating this is to
04:58launch the food service via ondc that we are looking at those are some initial reports that are
05:05indicating at this point in time so that's something which will of course be beneficial to all the
05:12with a lot of competition coming in into the food delivery space and thereby maybe
05:18some kind of a price was starting there as well to grab the market share so far the space has
05:24been
05:24dominated by swiggy and zomato so that's something that's coming in on your screens viewers we'll come
05:29continue to keep an eye out on that but uh gaurang coming back to the markets um you did rightly
05:35pointed
05:35out uh that you know um it and banking names are definitely seeing some kind of a recovery at this
05:41point in time um how are you looking at what to look at in this market even in the dips
05:46what to add in
05:47this market and where to stay clearly away from so uh clearly away it's actually i think oil related
05:57right because oil has been a joker in the back uh it's been volatile and it's very difficult to predict
06:03the behavior of crude oil so i think oil exploration oil marketing companies with this kind of volatility
06:09uh sectors which are directly dependent and sectors which have a large input cost in terms of raw material
06:15oil in form of crude oil should be avoided as of now because of the uncertainty but where to look
06:20at i think defense power generation auto sakshi has been though it is a direct again correlated with
06:27the oil but for the kind of numbers that have come out not in the first quarter for the earnings
06:32whatever we've seen so far sakshi but even for the month-on-month numbers they have been still not
06:36only on the domestic front but export market is a big big big opportunity and that's what we were
06:40discussing with uh haba and shell uh i think it was on wednesday i had shared my view sakshi that
06:47the
06:47number of ftas that india has signed with various countries one sector that will get benefited is auto
06:52so autos defense power generation maybe to a certain extent pharma healthcare sakshi looks very attractive
06:59because it is relatively insulated from the external shocks and it's a need kind of a sector so these are
07:06the primary sectors that one should look at hold on to that healthcare thought uh gorang will come to
07:11it especially because we are now looking at manipal healthcare also going to be hitting dalal street
07:16very soon with a mammoth 9 200 crores the ipo primarily to uh of course wipe out the massive debt
07:23uh from its sayadri hospital's acquisition in fact i spoke with the md and the ceo dilip chose earlier
07:30and to find out why the existing investors are actually going to be still holding tight
07:35uh despite some ofs uh portion that is going to be coming into the ipo let's listen into what he
07:40had
07:40to say uh the primary purpose uh of this uh listing uh is to uh you know the inputs would
07:50be used the
07:51proceeds would be used to repay and actually prepay uh some debt that we have uh he had taken about
07:58uh six thousand crores of uh debt uh some months ago to complete the acquisition of sayadri hospitals
08:05and the primary purpose of uh this uh listing is uh to raise proceeds to repay that debt okay so
08:13could
08:14you also help us understand um you know when it comes to the offer for sale who are you selling
08:19shareholders and what would be the stake uh you know or shareholding pattern look like post the ipo
08:26so actually uh it would be proportionate you know uh all the existing shareholders are selling uh
08:32proportionately uh and uh in terms of uh post listing shareholding and between uh tamasak and
08:40the manipal group they will continue to be promoters and continue to have a majority stake okay what factors
08:48uh mr joe's uh were considered before deciding on the timing of launching this ipo and how much of it
08:54was driven by the need to give an exit to the existing investors uh like i mentioned sakshi uh there
09:01is no
09:01need to give an exit to any of their uh current investors and like i mentioned our uh office is
09:07a
09:07very small proportion of the total is to 8 000 crore primary versus uh uh an office of the range
09:13of
09:1412 000 crores so there was uh uh no no uh no uh desire for anybody to really uh get
09:21a complete exit at
09:23all i think uh uh you know like i mentioned earlier people are uh selling pari passu and uh so
09:29the the
09:30primary purpose to re-trade was to raise funds uh to pare down the debt
09:36foreign so we are going to be seeing increased amount of players now for investors to choose from
09:42in the healthcare basket uh so far we've discussed with you often on about apollo hospitals um fortis
09:48healthcare and many other companies that are already listed manipal also um you know when it comes to the
09:54large scale that it has uh the presence across about uh 20 or 24 or districts over 12 000 beds
10:01is what
10:02they already have it's a strong player there as well and they're also uh trying to look at
10:06capturing more geographies beyond karnataka maharashtra is something that they're looking at very uh
10:11closely uh mumbai as well uh how are you looking at manipal health as an opportunity that investors
10:17can look at well so firstly sakshi i think while we have a lot of choice but the cost of
10:24healthcare
10:24should also come down you know the way people build patients when they go into an hospital
10:30and the direct question is do you have a medicate anyways that's a part but uh uh well the team
10:37is
10:37working honestly sakshi on this particular uh ipo of manipal health may and yet they have not yet come
10:44out with a decisive note on this particular thing but i think it will be attractive i'm not by any
10:50means
10:50giving any kind of recommendations since we have yet to my team is yet batting the papers but uh this
10:57one this is one sector sakshi that has been always attractive in terms of earning visibility in
11:02terms of capex in terms of the number of players and in terms of uh the opportunity uh that will
11:09arise
11:10going into the future so currently we have positive coverage on uh amongst the listed entities actually
11:15apollo hospitals fortis healthcare narayan rudalia max healthcare and rainbow children's healthcare these are
11:22some of the names that we are currently posted i think as soon as we get a note and a
11:27go ahead from
11:28my research team i will definitely share our views as far as money policy sure let's also focus on the
11:35earnings that have been coming in auto and seri major sona comstar is also looking well beyond
11:41automotive sector in fact along with its strong q1 performance we've seen the company now making a
11:46strategic push into robotics and physical ai um you know market that it believes could eventually
11:51outroar the global automotive industry as well so of course let's try and understand what the
11:56management has to believe as to how could this fit into its long-term growth strategy i spoke with
12:01the vivek wikram singh the md and group ceo of sona comstar to understand more about this new foray
12:08the physical ai industry or even the subset which is just the intelligent robot industry will be a far
12:14bigger industry than automotive is today in just 15 years it is going to be one of the largest industries
12:22known and even a small fraction of that is good enough for our ambitions now why does sona comstar
12:32think it can play and it can win and good we announced it after winning a few orders already
12:38because if you look at what we do even for automotive we do uh gearboxes and reducers
12:45we do motors we do sensors and software in perception and these are essentially the building block of
12:53any robotic device a robot has a body it has gears and motors that allow it to move it has
13:02a perception stack which has cameras and radars which allows it to sense its environment and then
13:08finally software to process that information and take decisions this is essentially what we do for
13:15automotive anyway and i think the convergence of automotive and robotics is going to happen in
13:21the very near future if you look at uh hyundai just bought boston dynamics tesla has optimus yomi does
13:28its own robots byd is doing robots everyone who makes cars is actually in the best place
13:35to build advanced robotics and hence that auto supply chain is actually the most capable to get into that
13:44supply chain so it's a adjacency we are finding applications for the capabilities we already have
13:53right koran coming to you how would you look at uh sona comstar uh post the earnings that it has
13:59managed to post i think the strongest ever revenue for its quarter uh that we have seen and uh profit
14:05numbers have also beat the street estimates this time around uh even though we've also seen that
14:09they're talking about uh sona comstar 2.0 strategy over the next 10 years they're talking about a 10x kind
14:15of growth to chase the similar growth patterns that they've achieved over the last one decade this time
14:20around betting big on robotics and ai so uh you know it's actually you know a simple uh approach
14:30if auto sector is going to do well then auto ancillary oem segment companies tire and battery
14:35manufacturing companies all these are very closely linked with each other so if auto does well all
14:41these will do well not only in form of new auto market but also in form of replacement market
14:46while catering to the domestic auto manufacturing companies is a big opportunity most of these
14:52companies have a sizable presence as far as the export market is also concerned now for sona comstar
14:58you know the legacy uh issue is still hurting uh while we're even extremely positive on the sector
15:06no specific comments on sona because we don't have coverage but we like bosch we're positive on uno
15:14automotive uh samar than maderson is the other stock that we are positive and positive on battery
15:20manufacturing companies like excite and amara raja mobility in tires we are positive on apollo jk and
15:26val krishna investors all right so that's the entire auto related stocks that you could definitely be
15:32looking at as well um also when we talk about the earnings per se uh how are you looking at
15:38uh the it
15:39names um you know infosys that's come out with the earnings yet again the guidance cut and how would
15:44you really look at uh your positioning there we've already seen the entire it pack largely to come out
15:49with the earnings um your stance on uh infosys and now it's a tech in fact is rising because of
15:55its big
15:55ai-led investment in odisha your sense of how would you assess our it stocks or tech majors finally
16:01waking up to their own investments in the ai space and how they need to play catch up or you
16:09know are
16:09things going to still be very cautious around the space so sakshi this is going to be an evolving
16:14sector when it comes to technology upgrade technological innovations and introductions of new tools and
16:21platforms and each and every company will definitely have to reinvent them themselves and make them
16:29uh capable to compete with this ever changing environment in terms of uh upgrades uh earnings
16:39for it sector you know one thing if i can put it in one sentence actually it does it was
16:44good that
16:45there was no dark there were no dark spots dark spots or no red flags uh commentary from the management
16:51and of course the icl tech news you're talking about i think going forward many more it companies
16:56they've already started and they will invest more in ai and technological upgrade and changes so if
17:03you decide eventually to invest in it sector first of all you will not get the return the way you're
17:08getting written 10 years or more back you will get decent set of readers but for that you will need
17:13to keep your investment idea under the microscope as far as it sector is concerned understand and then
17:20possibly make your investment it's not like anything and everything in it or related to it is going to
17:25give you fabulous returns you will get ridders but you have to choose the companies in the it sector
17:30very carefully absolutely let's quickly look at how the markets are shutting shop viewers and we'll
17:36come back to your top choice of questions that you have sent us for gorang to answer uh we have
17:41the nifty
17:42now almost ending the 80 points lower in this session 23 788 the good part is that we managed to
17:49climb uh
17:50towards the high point despite the weakness continuing for the fifth consecutive session
17:54this entire week has been a painful one of course led by the crude shock that we've been getting
18:00uh the good part also is that the crude oil prices are now um somehow recovering from that
18:05100 per barrel mark now you're seeing about 96 a barrel and that's very good news coming in
18:10and that's also one of the reasons why some of the pocket in the market is also uh improving you're
18:16seeing the nifty bank rally um now into the green you're also looking at um uh you know the space
18:22psu banks especially within the banking names leading that move you're looking at the it pack
18:28also turning green fmcg has also turned green towards the end of the session you're seeing two
18:32tenths percent of a move coming in on that one and we're looking at the media stocks also up and
18:36about in the session india weeks although maintains about a three percent higher but that also has
18:41considerably improved from the sharp spike of over eight or nine odd percent that we've seen in the
18:46morning but auto stocks metals and pharma still uh in the leading losers in terms of the sectoral
18:51action today let's also pull up the top gainers and losers in the session uh for the nifty viewers
18:56you have to watch out for of course these banking and it names that managed to pull up in the
19:01session
19:02hcl tech as the top mover almost two percent higher looking at sipla wipro also up by anywhere
19:07between one to one and a half odd percent in the session let's also move forward to the next slide
19:12and show you itc htfc life and geo finance uh were the other top movers as far as the nifty
19:17gains are
19:18concerned on the losing side however when we look at the big drags that we saw came in again from
19:24the
19:25auto pack in the session today the big nifty uh losers included names like hero motos somato also
19:30declined two and a half percent vijaj finance was down by two odd percent some heavy weights that
19:35declined in the session included also m&m sridam finance and bharti et al as the stocks that declined
19:41in the session let's uh take some questions now from our viewers we have suman patak from agra
19:46writing in the first question for goran and someone says is it the right time to invest in banking stocks
19:53with a one-year investment horizon how would you advise on the banking space and which part of the
19:59banking names would you prefer well so i would be biased towards one sakshi i would be equal
20:05with both on public sector banks and private sector banks and along with that i would request him to
20:11look at strong nbfcs also so if you have to pick one name from each sriram finance from nbfc indian
20:17bank from psu banks and icc bank from uh private sector banks but don't have one year time horizon
20:23because of the issues which are creating headwinds both locally and globally stretch your time horizon
20:29okay yeah trisha sen from kolkata writing in the next query and this one is she says i hold blue
20:35chip pharma names in my portfolio uh right now i'm still in doses but what should i do should i
20:40hold on
20:42well drisha what we don't know is what are those blue chips in your portfolio i wish you would have
20:46shared the names so it would have been much better i would have been in a much better position to
20:50answer your question but assuming that your names like sipla sun pharma doctor eddies these laboratories
20:56to maybe glenmark etc or maybe mid-cap names like glenpharma natco pharma or window pharma
21:03despite all that uh statement made by president trump of 2028 and 2029 100 percent and 200 percent
21:10actually my big question is whether we'll still see president trump as president in 2028 that's
21:16a big question midterms are not far away it's in november this year let's see what happens over
21:22there but uh stay invested if you are invested in strong fundamental companies in pharma okay we'll
21:28also take another query this one is from prasoon jain from kochi who says that i'm still sitting on
21:33healthy gains as far as the food delivery stocks are concerned despite their weakness lately should i
21:38continue to hold them on well so if you invested in names like eternal which is known as zomato earlier
21:44sachi and if you have time by your side and if you got invested at a reasonably lower level
21:49don't be in a hurry if you have time stay invested in zomato if it is zomato or eternal
21:54all right fair point okay we'll have to thank you right here for being with us on the show and
22:00for
22:00sharing all these wonderful insights like you always do for all our india today and business today
22:04audiences as well viewers in case you too have any questions about your investments in mutual funds
22:09in stocks your sips or even gold related questions then please do send them to us on the number that's
22:15flashing on your screens we'll be happy to have top market masters to guide you on your investment
22:21journey as well with that it's a wrap on the business today show right here thank you so much
22:25for watching in have a great weekend ahead we'll be back to track them up markets monday morning at 9am
