00:09Hey guys, it's Courtney, Director of Social at R29.
00:12I'm on the Upper East Side right now at Roe Plastic Surgery,
00:15trying out a procedure called the Instabreasts.
00:18Now getting a boob job is something that I've been thinking about for quite some time.
00:21I just turned 30, one of my boobs are bigger than the other,
00:25and so I really want them to look more like twins than sisters.
00:31This procedure is something I'm really excited about because I don't have to go under the knife,
00:35I don't have to spend thousands of dollars,
00:37I don't have to spend weeks and weeks in recovery,
00:40and I can test out and see what my boobs will look like with a little bit more fullness.
00:45So I'm a little nervous.
00:47I'm nervous about the pain, I'm nervous to see if I'll have any scarring,
00:51but overall I'm really, really excited to test it out and see how I'll look and feel with bigger breasts.
01:00Hi, I'm Dr. Charles Pierce. I'm a double board certified plastic surgeon.
01:04I'm board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery as well as the American Board of Surgery
01:09and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
01:12This procedure was invented by Dr. Roe a few years ago.
01:17The Instabreast is to mess the breast with fluid.
01:20When you do that, the breast sort of ballooned up.
01:24And we were in the operating room and he said one day,
01:26boy, it looks kind of like an augmentation.
01:28I don't exactly recall how the term Instabreast came along, but it did.
01:33And the rest is history.
01:38The Instabreast isn't for everybody.
01:40Some of the patients that really are not good candidates for it are those that have extremely dense breasts.
01:45Because you can inject fluid into the breast, but it doesn't really diffuse well around that really dense breast tissue
01:52or within it.
01:53And so the result isn't as great.
01:56So there are certain patients that aren't the best candidates for the Instabreast.
02:01However, they would be candidates for breast augmentation.
02:04It's really two different type of procedures.
02:07But there are some patients that we would have to see in consultation first and decide what's best for them.
02:16So there's no medical benefits from it.
02:19I think it really gives patients an idea of what it's like to have a breast augmentation.
02:23Some patients are interested in it, but aren't sure about size.
02:26They're not sure if they're really gonna like it long term.
02:29So it gives patients at least an initial feel of what it's like to have larger breasts and to live
02:34with them for a period of time.
02:36Yeah, so Courtney, now you're young and healthy, right? You have no medical problems? Is that correct?
02:40No medical problems.
02:41There's no history of breast cancer or anything in the family? Nothing like that?
02:44None of that.
02:44Okay, great. So let's see. So what bra size are you wearing right now?
02:47Right now I'm a 36 C.
02:49Okay.
02:49And I'd really like to get to a nice D.
02:52A nice D.
02:53I think that's why I'm here a little to see what size I really want and what looks good.
02:58My left breast is a little larger than my right.
03:01And I know a lot of women experience that, but for me, it's felt a little, it's been an insecurity
03:06of mine.
03:07I think we can try and help try to make it a little more symmetric. Is it gonna be perfect?
03:10No.
03:11But you know, ultimately, like I said, this is a temporary thing lasting typically around 12, 12 hours, maybe a
03:16little longer.
03:17All right, Courtney, why don't you stand up? Let's do an exam here real quick.
03:20All right. So now you are a C cup and you want to be a larger, right?
03:25Okay. So real quick exam here. One thing that an implant will do that the saline will not.
03:32The implant is going to give you more upper pole fullness up here.
03:35The saline is going to give you sort of an overall engorgement to the breast.
03:39It gives you an idea. It's not exact, but it gives you an idea.
03:41It's good to know.
03:42Well, if you don't have any other questions, we'll get you taken care of.
03:45We'll get you over the operating room and take care of this.
03:48All right, Courtney, I want you to come up here on the bed.
03:50It's this little solution here for prep.
03:53We numb you up first, of course.
03:58We make several small puncture wounds underneath the breast.
04:04Okay, so this is where you might feel some pressure.
04:09We use a metal straw or cannula that we insert through those little puncture wounds,
04:13and that's what we use to mess or inflate the breast with saline solution.
04:29250? You feel that?
04:31Yeah.
04:31Yeah, you're going to feel a little pressure there, and this is just the saline going in.
04:38So the saline itself is just water. It's salt solution. We put it in IVs all the time, and that's
04:43what we're injecting.
04:44It naturally gets absorbed over about 12 hours or so.
04:51That's what? That's 200 right there, right? So this will be 250, this last one.
04:56We're just trying to get you a little full up top, so even on both sides.
05:03Okay, it looks like we're all done. I think we did a nice job.
05:06Oh yeah, they're nice. Should I touch them?
05:09Yeah, of course. They're yours.
05:12I'm afraid to move them. I'm afraid that they're not going to do anything. I'm scared.
05:18But they look much bigger and much more symmetrical.
05:26So basically, you're at least a cup size, maybe two bigger. I'd say you're probably around a double D, maybe
05:31a really large D.
05:32How much would a procedure like this normally cost?
05:35So typically, it's anywhere between $2,000 to $3,000, usually around $3,000.
05:39And can I wear a bra?
05:40Yes. Really, there's no real limitations. It's really saline. You may leak a little bit from those little puncture wounds
05:47where we went in.
05:47That usually will stop over an hour or two.
05:50Is there anything I should avoid doing, not do, or should I do?
05:54Well, a general rule of thumb is, you know, if something hurts, you shouldn't do it. Otherwise, no.
06:01You're not going to hurt. You're not going to break. Nothing's going to happen. Okay?
06:05Okay.
06:05Like I said, that's the beauty of it. It's just saline. You definitely need to go out tonight.
06:08Oh, I'm going out tonight.
06:09All right. All right. Good.
06:12I think that this procedure did exactly what it was meant to do. I've gotten to see how I look
06:19and how I feel with bigger, fuller, more symmetrical breasts.
06:24I love the way they look. I feel super confident already. I feel like I want to go out tonight.
06:31I feel like I want to hit the town. I want to show everyone my new breasts. And that's exactly
06:35what I wanted.
06:36I don't know if this would deter me or not from taking the next step and actually going forward with
06:45the full-on breast augmentation or not. I don't know if I want to, you know, pay the full cost
06:51of this procedure.
06:54And also, you know, have the recovery phase. I think that this was great because it's very low risk. And
07:00I think that it's low recovery and kind of high reward in the sense that I get to have a
07:05night test driving new fuller breasts.
07:08So I would say, yes, I would recommend this particular insta breast procedure to a friend, but I don't know
07:16if I would need to do it again.
07:17So I'm out on the town. I took my new breasts out and I've been getting so many compliments. I
07:26feel so confident and so beautiful. And there's no way in this shirt that my boobs would look the way
07:36that they do.
07:37Hi, guys. OK, it's Courtney. It's been 24 hours since my insta breast procedure. I have a few things that
07:44I want to talk about.
07:46One, it was a little bit more invasive than I thought it would be going into it. I would say
07:53that it was definitely a little bit painful.
07:56I think for that type of procedure, I would love if it lasted even a week or a month would
08:03be great to really like get the full feeling to be able to test out where different types of clothing,
08:09different bras go to different places like really kind of lean in.
08:14And I wasn't able to do that on in just one night. This is something that you should do for
08:19you.
08:20Whether you want to try it out or you want to go and do the full thing, do what you
08:26want to do, do what's best for you, do your research.
08:30You know, I support women doing what makes them feel good. So I think this is a great alternative.
08:38I wish it lasted a little bit longer, but I was very excited and happy to try it and I
08:43was very happy with the results.
08:44And who knows, maybe I will get the real thing in the future.
08:59I like the light on the roofs. It's like...
09:02Oh...
09:03Oh...
09:03Oh...
09:04Oh...
09:08Oh...
