00:00Hair makes me feel a little anxious, to be honest.
00:02I've only gotten my hair cut by one person, and it was a very bad experience.
00:07Letting somebody else touch my hair is kind of a big deal.
00:11My name is Erin, and today I'm going to transform this stick straight dry mess into some luscious,
00:17beautiful curls.
00:18I'm a mom from L.A. and a makeup artist.
00:21When I was younger, my mom used to do my hair until I was about 12 years old.
00:25She'd flat iron it every single weekend.
00:27My mom used to be really strict about me doing anything with my hair, but when I cut
00:31it up to my shoulders after it being waist length, she just saw me from a distance and her mouth
00:35dropped and she cried as though I just died.
00:38These days I will straighten it sometimes, but I try not to too much because I don't want
00:41it to get more damage.
00:42So when I do it curly, it'll last for like a couple of days.
00:45I've heard about the Olopex treatment before, I've never tried it, but I definitely need
00:49to because I just tried to bleach my own hair by mistake and I really damaged it.
00:54It's been five years since I had my daughter and I used to be the type of person that would
00:58change my hair color every month, maybe.
01:01I would have every single color and I haven't.
01:03It's just been black and plain for a long time and I just lightened it and I'm kind of
01:06like opening up to having a new style again.
01:08Out of all the millions of colors I've had, I've never done blonde.
01:11I've never had a curl treatment before, so I think this is going to be pretty awesome
01:14to have my hair look how it should look back to its natural state.
01:19I just want the world to know with this new hairstyle that I am a bad bitch.
01:26I'm Justin Anderson and I'm a hair colorist here at the DP Hue house in Los Angeles, California.
01:31I'm also the co-founder of the DP Hue hair product line.
01:34Hey there.
01:35How's it going?
01:36Good.
01:36How are you?
01:37I'm Justin.
01:37Nice to meet you.
01:38Good to meet you.
01:39Welcome to DP Hue house.
01:41Thank you so much.
01:41I never let anybody do my hair or my makeup and so it is a little bit nerve-wracking to
01:46trust someone else to get their fingers all up in this, but we'll see how it goes.
01:53Alright, so I'm just going to kind of change up your color a bit.
01:55I'm going to keep you nice and light, but I'm going to make it as natural as possible.
01:59And I'm going to do that by keeping you kind of natural at the root and making the blonde
02:04pieces be everything that kind of frames your face.
02:06I don't want you to have like a solid line when it grows in, so months after seeing me,
02:11I still want it to look kind of believable, natural, so that you're not a slave to the
02:16salon.
02:17Good thinking.
02:25So right in here, I'm just kind of evening up where the color got a little blotchy before.
02:30It looks like there's kind of some panels in here that I'm just kind of going through
02:34and evening it out.
02:35And so this is kind of a lightening process.
02:38And then we'll go back through and we will soften your base color.
02:49Alright, so we got all the highlights in.
02:50Now we're going to go in between the foils and do the root color.
02:54And what that's going to do is just soften your natural color and kind of blend the highlights
02:58together before we go in and lighten up all those tips.
03:17This is the last time I remember touching my own hair again for the rest of my life.
03:20Okay, so we have the base color on in between the foils, kind of blending everything together.
03:26And now I'm going to go through and lighten up those ends to get those nice bright tips.
03:30So excited.
03:47Do I look like that bitch?
03:49Alright, so all the foils are in.
03:51We just put in these tips, so we're going to go ahead and heat up those ends
03:55with the diffuser on the blow dryer to get those to catch up to the top.
03:59And then everything will be rinsed out and you'll get your final gloss.
04:02Yes, I can't wait to see it.
04:31Then after we washed everything out, we glossed our hair all over to kind of seal in the color,
04:36add a bunch of extra shine.
04:55Hey!
04:56Hey!
04:56How are you?
04:57I'm good.
04:57I'm Tiffany Shorter.
04:58Nice to meet you.
04:59Nice to meet you.
05:00So I'm going to cut and style and I wanted to allow your hair to dry naturally so I can
05:05see what I'm cutting and I can see that on this side it's a little curlier and this side
05:09less curly.
05:10So I will compensate for that in the cuts.
05:23So we just established your shape.
05:25It looks amazing.
05:26So now I'm just going to wet you down, apply some product, diffuse and finish.
05:46Oh my gosh!
05:48It's incredible!
05:49How beautiful.
05:50This is so good!
05:56Wow, this color is gorgeous.
05:58I've never had my curls be so perfect before.
06:02I can't believe it's healthier than when we started.
06:06Working with Erin was a lot of fun today.
06:08To be honest, her hair was a little bit close to being damaged so I wanted to make sure to
06:12use really, really gentle products.
06:15Using Olaplex in the color really helped keep her hair super healthy but still get it to the
06:20light color that I wanted it to be.
06:22Also, anytime you're going lighter with your blonde, you want to make sure to keep those
06:26brights really, really bright by using a product like the Cool Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner.
06:31That'll neutralize any yellow in your hair and make sure the blonde stays super, super bright.
06:36My experience was unbelievable actually.
06:40Have you ever seen someone do a magic trick and it stumped you and haunted you for weeks,
06:46days, years?
06:48Justin.
06:49He's a magician.
06:50He's amazing.
06:51He's such a sweet person and, like, do you see what he did, right?
06:55I think this is the first time my hair has ever been amazing and it's a complete transformation.
07:00My curls actually look moisturized.
07:03They're the same everywhere.
07:05It's kind of remarkable.
07:07New bar has been sad.
07:08I will never touch box dye ever again, I swore to Justin.
