00:23Thea Boogson spent an entire decade online, and a whole adult life on the record before

00:27the biggest YouTuber on the planet ever showed up, so obviously there was a before.

00:31But to understand why so many people are obsessed with who came before Jimmy, you need to know

00:35the genuinely unhinged story of how she ended up with him.

00:37And it all starts with a cancelled trip to Antarctica, and a man walking around Cape Town, interviewing

00:42women like he was filling a vacancy.

00:44Mr. Beast had a plan for Antarctica.

00:47He had Logan Paul and Casey Neistat with him, and the whole production was moving.

00:50And then COVID cases turned up inside the traveling group, and the entire thing collapsed.

00:54So instead of standing on the coldest continent on earth, the biggest YouTuber in the world

00:58found himself stranded in Cape Town with an empty schedule, and a crew with absolutely

01:03nothing to shoot, so he went out.

01:04And this is where Louisa Boogson earns her place in the story, because Thea's younger

01:08sister crossed paths with the group while they were out and stepped in as a wingman.

01:11And through her and a mutual connection Thea got pulled into a dinner, though some accounts

01:15say it was coffee.

01:16Either way she walked into a room containing the most subscribed creator on the internet with

01:19barely any warning, and her read on him was almost aggressively unimpressed.

01:26What she did not know is that she was being screened.

02:58By the time she met Donaldson, Thea Buickson had been streaming professionally for six years,

03:03held a law degree and a psychology honors, was part way through a master's, and had a

03:07finished seven-year novel behind her.

03:09She did not clear his bar for a serious partner.

03:11She cleared it the way a truck clears a speed bump.

03:14Start with the gaming because that is where she started.

03:16At around 18 she began streaming under the handle Thea Beastie,

03:19Card Games First, and Gwent.

03:21The Witcher card game became the center of it.

03:23She was good enough at it that CD Projekt made her an official Gwent caster and flew

03:27her out to their headquarters in Poland.

03:28And she also streams League of Legends, The Witcher and later Disney Lorcanna.

03:32Now hold it against what she was doing at the same time.

03:35She took a bachelor's degree in law at Stellenbosch University,

03:37then an honors degree in psychology.

03:39Then she went to the University of Edinburgh for a master's in human cognitive neuropsychology,

03:44which she finished in November 2024.

03:46And she paid for that last one herself,

03:47because she told MyBroadband that streaming and esports work generated roughly R1 million,

03:52and she put it straight into the neuroscience degree.

03:54Not a car, not a house.

03:56An entire self-funded post-graduate qualification in Scotland,

04:00which is worth filing away, because it becomes very funny later.

04:03And while she was doing all of that, she was also writing a novel.

04:05The Marked Children, a young adult book she started in high school and worked on for about

04:10seven years before self-publishing it in 2022.

04:13And it sits at roughly 4.3 to 4.7 on Amazon and Goodreads,

04:17so it is not a vanity project she abandoned at Chapter 3.

04:20Then in early 2026 she announced she had become a co-owner of Nixa,

04:24a South African esports organization, framing it as a rescue mission.

04:27I'm proud to announce that I am now an official co-owner of Nixa,

04:30the best gaming org in South Africa, too many of our incredible,

04:34hard-working influencers fall through the cracks.

04:36Well, I say no more.

04:37So that is Three Degrees, a decade of streaming, a published novel.

04:41Brand deals with Elgato and Volvo South Africa, an esports org and 1.2 million followers.

04:46And she is not shy about any of it, which is the part people get wrong about her.

04:50She runs a second YouTube channel called More Than Human built around psychology and education,

04:55because apparently one channel about card games was not enough output for her.

04:59And in 2023 she publicly went after Twitch over its updated terms of service,

05:03pointing out that the platform understood the potential damage to streamers,

05:06and went ahead anyway in getting named in the coverage, alongside other creators calling it out.

05:11And on X she has taken a hard, unhedged line against for-profit assisted dying,

05:15telling a Canadian assisted suicide company that advertised its service,

05:19I am not a fan of this.

05:20It's dystopian and I will fight it until my very last breath.

05:23She has argued that depression is at a record high.

05:26One out of five adults suffer from anxiety or depression.

05:28When a human is at their very lowest, the last thing they need is an easy way out.

05:33And she drew the line at the commercial element in particular.

05:36I do not think assisted suicides should ever enter the domain of for-profit companies.

05:40Profit margins do not incentivize empathy.

05:43So that is the woman who broke the filter.

05:44A professional gamer with three degrees.

05:46A published novel and strong opinions she is happy to defend under her own name.

05:50Which makes what happened next almost impossible to believe.

05:53Because her partner runs the most industrialized documentation machine on earth.

05:56A man who has filmed trees, islands, prison cells and entire neighborhoods.

06:01And their relationship is the single asset that machine has never once been allowed to touch.

06:35The calendar arithmetic that governs a relationship where one person simply is not allowed to remain.

08:41Because the internet is about to have an extremely stupid opinion about it.

08:45They sat on the news for a week.

08:47And the announcement came on 1 January 2025.

08:49With Donaldson posting to Instagram and X captioned.

08:52Ya boy did a thing smiling smiling smiling.

08:54And Thea posting her own.

08:56A video of herself on his lap holding out her hand.

08:58The wedding plans are by design.

09:19Almost all of it built on their own posts.

09:20Because there was nothing else to build on.

09:22And as of July 2026 they are engaged and not married.

09:25With Donaldson joking on X that he may or may not be getting married.

09:29The accusation that would not die.

09:32The moment she became visible.

09:33The internet reached a verdict.

09:35And the verdict was that she was after his money.

09:37In late 2022 on the Wide Awake podcast.

09:40Thea described what going public as Mr Beast's girlfriend had actually felt like.

09:44And the word she used was super anxiety provoking.

09:46Then she quoted the comments straight back.

11:02And it is the most substantive thing she has ever said about any of the controversies.

11:05I appreciate the message.

11:07There is so much that is not being said.

11:09I wish I could talk more about the situation.

11:11Half the things that are said are not true.

11:12I wouldn't be with him if they were.

11:14It is so important to me to be a good person.

11:16Hopefully things will be fixed soon.

11:17But for now I'm focusing on my studies.

11:19And trying to stay away from everything.

11:21Then she added that she was going back to her master's dissertation.

11:24Which is the least dramatic possible way to end a controversy.

11:27Then came the engagement.

11:28And the accusation mutated into something almost funnier.

11:31When the ring appeared on 1 January 2025.

11:33A section of the internet studied the diamond.

11:35And decided it was too small.

11:37Discussion focused heavily on the ring size.

11:39With users arguing that a man of Donaldson's wealth.

11:41Should have produced something considerably larger.

11:43And others joking that a proper Mr. Beast proposal.

11:46Should have involved a challenge.

11:47A countdown.

11:48And a full production crew.

11:49And Donaldson's answer given to people.

11:54Would have been happy with a plastic ring.

13:10Captioned.

13:13We watch it.

13:13The post was later deleted.

13:15And when DramaAlert asked him about it.

13:17He confirmed it in four words.

13:18Yes me a happy boy.

13:20And she was accused of being after his money almost on contact.

13:23Exactly like Thea would be three years later.

13:25Except at 19.

13:26She deflected the whole thing with one tweet.

13:29If it wasn't clear.

13:30I don't want MrBeast for his money.

13:34Then came February 2020.

13:36And the single most extravagant thing MrBeast has ever done for someone he was actually dating.
