00:06Hey everyone, my name is Rachel Wade and I'm a makeup artist here in New York City with
00:10a business called Cheek2Chic.
00:12And today I'm going to show you two really cool edgy ways to do your eyeliner.
00:17The first one is sort of a playful take on something traditional and the second one is
00:22going to kind of zhuzh it up and give you a little something fun and colorful.
00:25So for the first look you want a kohl pencil in your favorite color, some sort of gel liner
00:30and an angled brush.
00:32For the second look it's nice to have a dark powdered shadow and then another eye shadow
00:38that matches your kohl liner, a blender brush and any sort of small eye shadow brush to fill
00:43in that corner.
00:44This is our lovely model Kishana and we are going to start out first with the playful take
00:50on something traditional.
00:51Today we're going to do a turquoise color which is really going to show up and give
00:55a nice bright effect.
00:56So go ahead and run that inside what we call the water line.
00:59You can pull your eye down just like you're doing and just go ahead and generously go back
01:04and forth.
01:05You kind of want to tickle it back and forth and make, go all the way towards your nose.
01:10And now go over that a good three or four times.
01:13You want a generous amount of eyeliner in there.
01:20And now you're going to go ahead and just run it a little bit into the lash line on the
01:24bottom.
01:25Just a little bit back and forth.
01:26We want it just to be a little blurry, a little smoky so it doesn't look quite so severe and
01:32clean.
01:33Concentrate a little bit more on the outer corner.
01:35Great.
01:36And sometimes it's nice to just take your fingertip and run it underneath and kind of melt it together.
01:42Fingertips are the unsung hero of the makeup tools.
01:46The next step is you want to take some sort of gel-based eyeliner.
01:50You could use liquid liner if you wanted to.
01:52And take a slanted brush, dip it in, and then go ahead and draw a nice clean line all along
01:59your top lash line as close to the lashes as possible.
02:05And now you're going to do the bottom, but only the outer third.
02:09So just draw a little bit in on that outer third.
02:12And we want to blend that into the turquoise.
02:24And then just to finish it off, bring that upper line out just a little bit and then connect
02:29it with the bottom line so that you create a little bit of a point on the outer corner
02:35of your eye.
02:37Perfect.
02:41Just remember, that coal liner that you use inside can be any color you want.
02:46Try a purple.
02:47Try a green.
02:48Try a blue.
02:49So the second look you can do alone or you can build from the first look, which is what
02:53we're going to do right now.
02:54So dipping your slanted brush in a black powder liner, you're going to start at the outer corner
03:00of your eye where the liner meets, and you're going to draw very gently right into the crease.
03:08And this time, do it one more time and go just a little quicker, get it nice and clean.
03:15All right, now taking a blender brush and just softly trace over it.
03:21Just keep blending it so it softens up a little bit.
03:24Back and forth, back and forth.
03:30And now to sort of finish this look up, you want to take a small eyeshadow brush and dip
03:36it into the turquoise color and then just gently fill in that outer corner right there.
03:44Great.
03:45And grab the blender brush again and then blend it all together.
03:50So, here's a really great edgy look using the black and the turquoise.
03:55And what's fun about it is the turquoise sort of softens up the black a bit and keeps the
04:00relationship between what's happening on the bottom of your eye to what's happening on the
04:04top of your eye.
04:05So there you have it.
04:06Two really cool edgy ways to do your eyeliner.
04:09You can see it doesn't take very many products, but the payoff is fantastic.
