00:01Three men have been arrested for allegedly stealing electricity to power a cryptocurrency mining operation at four premises in Johor.
00:10Johor Police Chief Commissioner Datuk Abrahman Arsad said the suspects, aged between 26 and 46,
00:18comprised a manager who oversaw the operation and two technicians responsible for installing and maintaining the cryptocurrency mining machines.
00:27The suspects from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were arrested on Wednesday and Thursday.
00:33Initial investigations found that the syndicate had been operating for about a month from four rented premises in Johor Bahru,
00:40Iskandar Putri and Kulai.
00:42Commissioner Abrahman said the syndicate generated cryptocurrency worth between RM80,000 and RM100,000 during the month-long operation.
00:52He said the group bypassed legitimate Tenaga National Berhad, TNB, meters by directly tapping into electricity supply, enabling it to
01:01operate without paying electricity bills.
01:04The four premises, comprising three houses and a shop lot, had been rented through a third party.
01:10Police seized 71 cryptocurrency mining machines along with computers, laptops, routers, monitors, keyboards, mobile phones, padlocks, keys and two vehicles

01:23The suspects, who each earned about RM5,000 from the operation, have been remanded for four days until Sunday.
