00:00Elliot, welcome to Manchester. What are your emotions as you sit here today now that you're a Manchester City player?
00:06Yeah, I'm over the moon. Can't wait to play for this club, you know. I'm really looking forward to it.
00:12This move comes during a really special summer for you, one that you've dreamed of since being a boy.
00:17You've represented England at a World Cup and I know how special that is.
00:21I know the semi-final was disappointing, but overall, how do you assess the tournament from your personal perspective?
00:27As a team, I think we had the whole country behind us and we'd done so well, but just fell
00:32short.
00:33But yeah, no, from a personal point of view, I enjoyed it and I thought I'd done pretty well.
00:38It's been a rapid rise for you from Newcastle to Forest, England regular, now Manchester City.
00:44Has the speed of that progression taken you by surprise a little bit?
00:47A little bit, yeah, I guess. It's happened quite quick, but I think I always believed that I could get
00:52to this point
00:53and this is where I want to be and now that I'm here, I'll keep pushing and try and take
00:59this club forward.
01:00It feels like you're coming into your prime years, perhaps. How much more is there to come from Elliot Anderson,
01:05do you feel?
01:06Yeah, lots. I think I'm only 23, so I've got plenty of time to get to my best levels
01:12and yeah, I definitely think I'm not there yet and there's more to come from me.
01:16So you're joining at a very exciting time. It's a new era here at City.
01:19We've got a new manager, Enzo Mareska. He's a manager committed to playing attacking football.
01:25When we've got the ball, we try and dominate possession and score goals.
01:29For a midfielder like yourself, how enticing is that? How exciting is it?
01:34Yeah, I'm really looking forward to that. I've watched his teams over the past couple of years
01:38and spoke to a few of the lads from Chelsea and they all rate him very highly.
01:42So I'm really looking forward to getting to work with them.
01:45What about the Manchester derby? We've got one of those fairly early in the season,
01:49probably the fourth game, I think it is. Huge game here in Manchester.
01:54How much are you looking forward to that sort of encounter?
01:57Yeah, it's one of the biggest derbies in the world and for as long as I've known Manchester,
02:05City has been the kings of Manchester. So yeah, it'll be a great fixture
02:08and I can't wait to be involved in something like that.
02:12You scored a great goal against City last season, but for those who are maybe not as familiar with your
02:18game,
02:19how would you describe yourself to City fans who are interested in what they're going to be watching?
02:26Yeah, I think I bring a bit of everything. I bring quality, I bring physicality, energy.
02:33Yeah, so I'd like to think I'd get them excited, get them off their feet and bring energy to the
02:39team.
02:40City have got a great history of top midfielders.
02:43You know, Rodri's here, obviously he's a world-class player.
02:46Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho.
02:49Have they inspired you? You know, you were saying before you've watched City quite a lot
02:52during our dominant years, you know, those midfielders, are they the kind that you've looked at
02:56and taken things from into your own game?
02:58I've probably said it last year, I think Kevin De Bruyne is someone who I've hugely looked up to
03:02over the past seven or eight years.
03:06I've always, growing up through the academy at Newcastle, I've always wanted to play like him
03:10and I've watched him all the time and to be sat here in the team that he was doing it
03:15for is so special.
03:16You are a graduate of Wolvesend Boys Club, I believe, and obviously they've got a massive reputation
03:22for producing top quality players.
03:24What do you think it is about that part of the world, the North East, the love of football there
03:28that creates top quality players?
03:31Yeah, I think it's just the love for the game up there, the passion.
03:35All the kids just want to be footballers and it's everyone's dream and Wolvesend is such a good club
03:41to progress and learn your skills there, so yeah, it's a great club.
03:47Any footballer who gets to this stage of their career, gets to the very top of the game like you
03:50have,
03:51they've had the support of their family and their closest friends.
03:55What message do you want to send to your nearest and dearest today?
03:58Because obviously they've been around you and helped you get to this point.
04:01Yeah, I'm just so thankful for everything they've done to help me get here.
04:05It's not just me who's done it to be sat in this seat at the moment,
04:08it's all my family who've been there for me all the time and sacrificed things
04:13to make sure I was at every session growing up.
04:15You had the most touches last season in the Premier League
04:18and you completed more passes than any midfielder, two incredible metrics.
04:22That sounds like a player who really wants to get on the ball,
04:25which is what we like to see here at City.
04:26It sounds like you're kind of ready-made for us, really.
04:29Yeah, I like to think I'll take the ball at any time.
04:32I love having the ball at my feet.
04:34I'll help the team out when we're in tough times.
04:38I love to just be involved in getting the team going forward
04:41and ticking and get all the good attacking players here on the ball.
04:44Well, Elliot, congratulations on making this move.
04:47We're all looking forward to watching you play and good luck.
04:50Appreciate it.
