In this video, Nicole shows you how to make spicy Thai basil chicken, a take on the classic Thai dish Pad Krapow Gai, as a simple dinner to work into your weekly dinner rotation. This sweet and spicy dish gets its kick from adding in a diced Serrano pepper and rich, golden flavor from a simple homemade stir-fry sauce.

00:00This is a summery dish that you should be adding
00:02to your dinner rotation this week.
00:03Once your chicken is chopped in tiny pieces,
00:06I'm gonna mix up a little stir fry sauce.
00:08Chicken broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce,
00:10white sugar and brown sugar, and then a little fish sauce.
00:14Get a skillet, hot, and then I'm going in with the chicken.
00:17This will cook for a couple minutes
00:18till it starts to kinda take on some color
00:20and release easily from the pan.
00:22Going in with some shallots and garlic.
00:24And now the spicy to our spicy Thai basil chicken.
00:27That is a serrano chili.
00:29That is spicier than a jalapeno.
00:31In goes our sauce, half of it.
00:33And then you wanna scrape up any bits from the bottom.
00:35It's thickened, it's coated the chicken, and that's about it.
00:38All that's left is to add the basil to our spicy Thai basil.
00:43Spicy Thai basil chicken, coming right up.
00:48There's the little kick, the savory richness,
00:51but also sweet and also spicy.
