00:00Elon has to, I think, enunciate better the vision for Optimus, for example.
00:06They've been very broad and future-worldy, but so what is the revenue stream?
00:11We have to get down to some nuts and bolts with both the RoboTaxis, the CyberCab, and Optimus.
00:18How is this going to turn into an ongoing business?
00:22Because right now it's just been these very broad, boastful promises, and we need tangibles.
00:30Ed, does that become tangible in the manufacturing process of these automobiles?
00:33Is that where the synergy?
00:35Can I just throw into this?
00:38Max Guckman, Senior VP at Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions.
00:42This is on our live blog.
00:43He said the EPS myths and loose language surrounding Optimus and AI.
00:48Yeah, exactly.
00:50Exactly, but go ahead, Ed, please.
00:52No, exactly right that how many times over many years on this program have we said,
00:59Elon Musk often misses the timelines that he's set out, but he gets there in the end.
01:05The issue is that there is nothing in this interim period tangible.
01:10It's actually very interesting.
01:12On the Alphabet call, I'm going to be listening very closely for what they say about Waymo,
01:17because Waymo is very easy to size and scope on the commercial footprint of what is a real
01:23RoboTaxi service.
01:24Tesla has some limited updates on its RoboTaxi service, but it's more piecemeal.
01:30There are fewer cities.
01:32There are human safety drivers in many contexts, and others there are not, but they haven't
01:36commercialized it by charging a fare.
01:38Everyone is still waiting for something of real substance to happen.
01:43You know, Mandeep did a really good job just then on the Alphabet call.
01:46What moves the needle?
01:48So for Alphabet, a bigger capex number will move the needle in the short term, and commentary
01:52around token economics or token generation.
01:57For Tesla, it would be something of substance, some concrete development.
02:01When will FSD be authorized in new jurisdictions where it currently is not?
02:06When will they have a fee or fare-charging RoboTaxi service in America in a set city?
02:13Like, things like that make it a lot more real, and there's nothing of that ilk in this
02:18earnings deck.
02:19Keith, yeah, go ahead.
02:20Well, I guess one thing that's important is Ed mentioned that, you know, Elon misses,
02:26you know, the timeline targets but eventually delivers.
02:29I'm not so certain that's true when we talk about Cybertruck.
02:33We have this great story out today that Cybertruck has become the Edsel of the modern day.
02:38Explain what that means.
02:39Well, that it's a big failure.
02:40Ford had the Edsel in the late 1950s.
02:43They expected to sell 200,000 units a year and ended up selling a fraction of that, and
02:49after three years, they killed it.
02:51Elon wanted to sell 250,000 Cybertrucks a year.
02:55I think we're at 7,000.
02:57So, you know, that has not been a success.
03:02It's been a failure.
03:03So, that's different than if you think way back to Model 3 and the manufacturing hell
03:07and remember all that stuff that was going on?
03:09Yeah, sleeping on the floor of the factory.
03:11But then 3 arrived, and Y arrived after it, and they're huge success.
03:14They are the company now, right?
03:15So, he did deliver in a big way, a revolutionary way.
03:19But with Cybertruck, he failed.
