00:00I thought it was done. I 100% thought it was done.
00:02What? I did. I absolutely, I did.
00:10Hi. We are the cast of Ted Lasso.
00:14Some of them. Anyway, this is our Hollywood Reporter thing.
00:23Okay, Jason, I'm going to give this one for you because I think you will be the man to answer
00:27this.
00:27Okay.
00:28Um, even though it starts with everyone, I'm going to change it to Jason.
00:31No pressure.
00:31Please tease season four for your character in 15 seconds or less.
00:35Ted Lasso is presented with an option to do something different in his life for people that he's never done
00:41it for before.
00:41And he may or may not accept it, but he does because we made 10 episodes.
00:46And why would, how would you ever turn a no into 10 episodes?
00:50Good answer.
00:51Massive spoiler.
00:53That's the episode one ruined.
00:56But it's the journey.
01:00Ted Lasso premiered in 2020. True or false?
01:03No.
01:04Yeah.
01:04Did it?
01:05Yeah.
01:05Yeah.
01:06Yeah.
01:06August of 2020.
01:08Five months into the pandemic.
01:10Ah, remember?
01:11Uh, at a time when audiences arguably needed a feel good show.
01:15Why do you think it will land today?
01:18If you do, if you do, this is assuming that you think it will.
01:21Okay, there you go.
01:23I think it will still land because it's about connection.
01:26And I think in this day and age, we need connection even more than ever.
01:30Yeah, yeah.
01:31Yeah.
01:32Yeah.
01:32Yes.
01:33Um, I was very interested at the time how everyone said that, um, quite a lot of the success of
01:39the show was due to COVID and everyone needing to go.
01:42I think that does it a disservice because I'd got, I didn't really like the whole thing of people being
01:48roasted.
01:49And I love the fact that our show always bucks against that.
01:53And even, you know, when the sassy character comes in, you expect the women to be pitted against each other.
01:58And there's no roasting.
02:00There's no pitting against each other.
02:01It is beautiful and pure and fucking magic.
02:05There you go.
02:05So there.
02:10Juno and Hannah, Jason has historically said Ted Lasso is him after two beers.
02:15Do we agree or do we disagree?
02:17On an empty stack.
02:18I wouldn't have said beers.
02:19I don't think you need a beer at all.
02:21It might be you after a little sleep after 12 minutes of sleep.
02:29I think he's a part of your DNA.
02:31Yeah, for sure.
02:33And that's why it's so magical to do this.
02:35The full quote is that it's two beers on an empty stomach on someone else's boat.
02:40Maybe that's when your accent comes out, though, more.
02:42A bit of a twang of that.
02:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:44Because that you don't have always.
02:45Not always.
02:46But you and Ted inside are very similar.
02:48Papa Greyhound is rippling through his bloodstream is the answer.
02:52That's enough already.
02:53Nobody wants this.
02:55We want controversy.
02:57All right.
02:57This show has opened a lot of doors for all of you.
03:00What's the wildest opportunity you've each gotten as a result?
03:05I mean, I'm the godmother of a cruise ship, people.
03:09Where?
03:10And where were you two helping me smash the bottle against the hull?
03:14That is a good point.
03:16That is.
03:16Yeah.
03:17Why didn't you come to Barcelona and hang out and vomit over the side of, you know, on the side
03:21of the bow?
03:22It was great.
03:23I love it.
03:24Naval background.
03:25Yeah.
03:25No, it sounds amazing.
03:26It suits with a great on there.
03:27The doors to the White House.
03:31I couldn't go.
03:32I know.
03:33I know.
03:34I mean, you know, that was pretty.
03:36With a belief sign.
03:38Joe Biden having the belief sign above the door and giving out biscuits.
03:42Telling everyone it was the original.
03:45Politicians.
03:45And we were in the middle of stealing something from his antechamber, weren't we?
03:50And he walked in and we were like, nothing?
03:52Nothing at all.
03:58Yep.
03:59Get in there.
03:59Make it random.
04:02Complete this sentence.
04:04When season three wrapped, I thought the likelihood that Ted Lasso would return was, I mean, we're not asking you.
04:13What did you think, Juju?
04:14I thought it was in the head and the heart, Jason.
04:17In what way?
04:18That if we were coming back, it was because your head and heart was going to bring it back.
04:22All right, then that's okay.
04:23And, you know, if it wasn't going to come back, then it was what an experience, what a time, what
04:27a connection, what a beautiful thing.
04:29And if it did, what a joy.
04:31I think we were here.
04:32Yeah.
04:33Yeah.
04:33I don't think there was any chance we weren't coming back because you are such a champion of the women's
04:38game and women's sport.
04:40I just thought it's only a matter of time before Apple shut you in a hermetically sealed chamber and go,
04:47boy, write the women's story.
04:50Oh, gosh.
04:50They did not use that tact.
04:54They were awfully patient.
04:56Yeah.
04:56It was just, they just never, like, the characters never stopped talking.
05:00Yeah.
05:00Like, I just kept, like, it was, you know, not at all annoying either.
05:04It was just kind of like, but you just got to, like, sit with it.
05:06But I thought it was done.
05:07I 100% thought it was done.
05:08What?
05:09I did.
05:09I absolutely, I did.
05:11I felt like you did.
05:12Within, within, maybe not on the, like, on the, like, the soul level or heart level.
05:17But brain, but brain-wise, it was like.
05:19Yeah.
05:19But brain-wise, you, you were like.
05:22I would have loved to go on a cruise in Spain.
05:25I can help you out with that.
05:27That would have helped us clear it all out.
05:28But no invite, no boat.
05:35Helen, do you know?
05:36Excellent.
05:36How do you know?
05:38And sweet.
05:39How do you know you've nailed a scene in Jason's estimation?
05:43Jesus.
05:44Put another way.
05:46What does he say or do?
05:49You know what?
05:49You aren't this skinny.
05:51I'll be, I'll learn something from this.
05:53I think you peek your head in and you do a little.
05:55And then also you come in a couple of times.
05:57I think over the four seasons, there's been two times I can think of where you came in and
06:01you said, do you know that was comic timing?
06:03Yep.
06:04That's it.
06:05Because she says all the time, I'm not funny.
06:07And I'm kind of like.
06:09All the time.
06:10Just because someone tries to be funny doesn't make them funny.
06:13It's usually the antithesis of it.
06:16But, yeah.
06:18So that's what I get from you.
06:19Whereas I say, Rebecca wouldn't say that.
06:21Yeah, yeah.
06:21Quite a lot.
06:22And sometimes you're right.
06:23Very rare.
06:24No, right.
06:25But what do you get from Jason when you nail a scene?
06:29A little bit, a little, a little treat.
06:30I can.
06:32If we're honest, and he knows this, quite little.
06:35But I know that that.
06:38Yeah, it's a nod.
06:39It's a genuine nod.
06:40That.
06:41Yeah, you don't give him out all the time.
06:43It's great.
06:43Because I will literally try and catch your eye from somewhere.
06:47Sometimes I feel like if you're doing a scene somewhere else, you know, and you're just listening
06:50or whatever, I'm like, is he with, is that right?
06:53Yes, we can move on.
06:55Yeah.
06:55Moving on is always a.
06:57Moving on is a blessed couple of words to hear.
07:01But that's my thing.
07:02That's my thing with you.
07:03Because it's his baby.
07:05And I do respect what everyone else thinks about it.
07:09But it's his baby.
07:10And if he goes, mm-hmm, then I'm good.
