The winning project of the Swiss Art Awards 2025 in the architecture category, “Map of Clay” by Boltshauser Architekten is realized this year as part of the Swiss Art Awards 2026 exhibition. Over the course of a year, Boltshauser Architekten collected clay samples from across Switzerland, documenting the country’s varied soil types and regions. In the exhibition hall, vibrating sieves animate the different clays, forming a material map on the floor — a catalogue of colours, textures and origins. Map of Clay makes geology tangible and proposes clay as a sustainable, regionally sourced building material.
