00:07In the city of destruction, where endless night held sway,
00:15A broken soul with chains of sin began his tearful way.
00:22A heavy burden crushed his back, tears carved his weary face.
00:29He left behind the only home he'd ever known in shame and disgrace.
00:34Through valleys dark and cold as death, where hope itself lay slain,
00:40He wandered lost and all alone beneath unending rain.
01:04The midway on that lonely road, beneath the dying sky.
01:09A gentle stranger walked beside him, quiet, kind and nigh.
01:14They shared the miles in silent grace, through storms that tore the soul.
01:19A friendship born in sorrow's depths that made the pilgrim whole.
01:24He never asked, he never knew.
01:27The stranger's holy name just fell to love so pure and deep, it eased his guilt and shame.
01:35Oh, redeemer's toll, so heavy, so final, so complete.
01:42For a just and holy God, death is just as pure and sweet.
01:47My only friend, my silent hope, now hanging on the tree.
01:53How could I let you die for me, how could it end like this for me?
02:09A journey's bitter, fading in the road, turned black as night.
02:14The toll gate rose like iron jaws beneath a blood-red light.
02:19The soul that sins must surely die, the words cut like a blade.
02:24The pilgrim fell upon his knees with nothing left but shame unpaid.
02:29His friend stepped forward, a voice so soft yet filled with endless pain.
02:34Only I who lived a sinless life can pay the price for your sin and stain.
02:44They argued there in pouring rain, the pilgrim cried no more.
02:49But shadow seized the gentle one and threw him to the floor.
02:55They beat him, mocked him, whipped his flesh and nailed him to the tree.
03:00He suffered there in agony, he died instead of me.
03:04Yet three days later, death was conquered, he rose in victory.
03:09His gift of full salvation offered now to you and me.
03:19A small gift wrapped in purest white was placed into his hands.
03:24Sealed with blood and resurrection, hope no mortal understands.
03:29Distraught and shattered, hard in ruins, he turned his face away.
03:34And stepped onto the toll roads path where death was waiting to claim its pay.
03:39The gatekeeper rose tall and stern, his voice a mournful knell.
03:44You cannot pass until you take the gift he freely gives.
03:50The pilgrim wept in broken rage, voice cracking with despair.
03:55I didn't even know his name.
04:05The keeper's eyes filled with sorrow, deeper than the sea.
04:15And softly spoke the final truth that set the captive free.
04:24His name is Jesus.
04:36A redeemer's toll, the cross he pours still echoes through my soul.
04:42For a just and holy God, death was satisfied in full.
04:47Through death and glorious resurrection, he has made me whole.
04:52With trembling hands and oceans of regret, I finally kneel
04:57I accept your gift of salvation
05:03Jesus, please forgive me still
05:09He opened up the gift through blinding tears that would not cease
05:14And suddenly was lifted home
05:20To everlasting peace
05:23There in the light, his eyes beheld
05:28The face he'd known before
05:33The friend who died and rose
