00:00An Oregon teen's thrifting business got a big boost when he scored this at a local Goodwill.
00:08Quinn Brown says it caught his eye immediately.
00:11I saw somebody a few years older than me holding the jacket, and I could kind of tell this looks
00:17pretty good.
00:17So I was just sort of standing near him, hoping he threw it back, and he ended up throwing it
00:23back right in front of me.
00:24I grabbed it immediately, and I didn't know what I had at the time.
00:28And I knew something good.
00:30It turned out to be a warm-up jacket that belonged to legendary Los Angeles Laker Wilt Chamberlain, worn in
00:371972.
00:39Brown says it only cost him $3, but he says he knew it was worth more.
00:45After posting about his find online, Brown says Sotheby's contacted him to see if he would let them auction it.
00:52He agreed, especially when they authenticated the jacket and estimated it could fetch more than $100,000.
00:59I don't think I've ever heard of a story of somebody finding something better than this.
01:03Clothing-wise, obviously there are paintings and things that have sold for more, but this is really something special.
01:10When the auction ended, the winning bid was $89,600.
