Documented in television documentaries for over 40 years by the BBC and other broadcasters around the world, the Marsh Pride is the most filmed pride of lions on Earth. In this film, the Marsh Pride battle for survival in Kenya's famous Maasai Mara Reserve, which has become a magnet for tourists, many of them keen to see the pride for themselves. A tale of shifting loyalties, bloody takeovers and sheer resilience, the lions’ story is told by those who filmed them, tried to protect them and lived alongside them, as well as some who ultimately wanted them dead.

00:02Only lions come together and raise the cubs as a family and it's something that
00:06none of the other cats do. For decades conservationists have been following a
00:11famous pride of lions in Kenya. The marsh pride is a real drama and it's
00:16unfolding right in front of you. The dynamic nature of lion society is such
00:20that trying to second-guess what might happen next is almost impossible. Their
00:26most dangerous enemy is humans. Just an aspirin-sized piece of cover sulphan
00:33will kill many lions. The human population is literally driving wildlife off the
00:39planet. We either think it's precious enough or we're gonna lose it. Lion, the
00:44rise and fall of the marsh pride on knowledge. We have got to do everything
00:53possible to ensure the future of the marsh pride.
