The World’s NARROWEST City is hidden deep in the mountains of China — Yanjin, Yunnan.

I explored this unbelievable “skyscraper canyon” in heavy rain, and it’s like nothing on Earth.

Carved between two giant mountains, split by the rushing Guan River,
the entire city is just a thin, narrow strip — **less than 30 meters wide at its skinniest point**,
only 300m at its widest. It’s a real-life “first-tier city” in the most literal sense:
a single line of buildings squeezed between cliffs and water.

Homes and towers are built on stilts (hanging houses), clinging to the steep mountainsides,
facing the wild river below. Old suspension bridges connect the two sides,
where locals walk, live, and go about daily life in this ultra-tight space.

No sprawling suburbs, no wide avenues — just one main road,
mountains towering above, river raging below, and rain pouring down.
This is mountain living at its most extreme.
